Will I be able to get a job with a commercial airline if I wear glasses? It is a very light prescription.

  1. As long as your vision is correctable there is no problem.

Your AME will note the requirment to wear your glasses on your medical. So always have them with you, if you are ramp checked by the F.A.A. they will ask to see them if you are not wearing them.

Any time you are in an airport you will see many pilots wearing glasses and many more with contacts. This is pretty much a non-issue.

  2. Yes. Not a problem at all.

  3. As long as you can see 20/20 with glasses/contacts, you're fine for the commercial sector.  Just not in the military though.

  4. I did.

  5. Sure!

The whole thing about eyeglasses preventing someone from flying is a military thing.

  6. yes.  you just can't be color blind

  7. For those that answered that you can't fly in the military with glasses:

The US Air Force, Navy and Marines have relaxed that requirement.  For the Air Force, your uncorrected vision can be as bad as 20/70 and still be a pilot.  Navy/Marines are different.  20/40 I think, but I'm not sure.

  8. Vision must correctable to 20/20 and you may fly with an FAA variance.
