Glasses price?

i accidently brok this kid's glasses. He told me that i would have to give him 600 dollars to repair them. He's probably exaggerating rite? He's only thirteen.

It would be worth it to go to the optical store with him so you can get the true cost from them...not from the kid.

If it is just the frame that broke, the same lenses can be used again...unless you smashed the whole thing ?

600.00 for a 13 year olds glasses would be quite outrageous.

they could very well potentially run into that price range, even without the spectacles being an expensive "name brand" (ie. prada, gucci, armani).  if the individual had a large refractive error they may have required more expensive materials to manufacture the lenses from and thus this would have driven up the cost of the glasses into the hundreds of dollars.

i guess the best thing to do is maybe contact their parents and try to work out the situation with them.

It depends on where you bought them from and the policy that the place has... The doctor I worked for had a one to two year warranty on all frames and lenses (depending how much you spent).  But $600 to repair???? NOOO, you might wanna check other places repair charges as if you bought frames from them.  This sounds like price gouging!

He sounds like a scammer.  Glasses can be $600 easily, there's lenses alone that sell for $700+ but I doubt he has them.  It's possible his were $600 but most likely his parents are pretty loaded if they spent that on his.  I see very few parents who spend a ton on their kids glasses. Most likely they were $200-$300.

unless they're like EXTREMELY special... like he's legally blind and he really needs those glasses to see..

most likely yes...he is...but do you know what KIND of glasses he has?? because glasess such as VERSACE or PRADA might cost that much...so find out what kind they were and google them.
