How strong can they be made? say you have 20/110. Could glasses be made to get you to 20/50?

Glasses don't make your eyesight better. They can make glasses as strong as you need.

Easily, to 20/20. And much higher.

It depends on the cause of the poor vision. If it is simply due to refractive error (ie you are short or long sighted), then yes, glasses can be made to improve your vision to 20/50 or even better. If however the underlying cause is, say, amblyopia (lazy eye) or cateract to name just a couple of conditions, then glasses may not be of much use.
