Question:

Glasspack vs. Chamber Muffler?

I have a 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a Straight 6. Which would sound better? And what brand would sound the best? I want a deep tone under idle and a nice V8 sound under acceleration. Not raddling if you know what I mean just a deep nice mellow tone. I've heard a Cherry Bomb on a 4 Runner and thought it sounded good. Also heard a dual Flow setup on a Tacoma with the same motor. Didn't like it under acceleration but did at idle.

  1. I had a similar setup and installed glasspacks.  It had a nice tone.  I liked it.

  2. Glasspacks have a down fall, the internals are fiberglass(hense the name)and will only last a couple years before ''blowing out'' the material and thus acting as a straight pipe, they also give your engine NO backpressure-bad for valves. Edelbrock sdt mufflers are my personal preference and I've had in the past few years-Thrush, Flowmaster, Cherry Bomb, SLP, Dynomax(sucked), Raven, GMPP, and Edelbrock. My hands down favorite is Edelbrock, but it is a personal preference

  3. Magnaflow makes a fantastic sounding and very high quality system. You need to make sure you don't get a system that's too loud. It sounds cool the first week or two, but when you're on a long trip, that droning exhaust will wear you out and give you a headache, believe me.
