Glastonbury next year?

Question

me and my dad might be going to glastonbury next year

we dont have a tent or anything.

but my mum dont want to go so we would need 3 or 4 persons for any other related trips - camping etc.

wheres the best place to get a good tent and equipment?

Personally, I would buy a tunnel tent. These are the ones that have a sleeping compartment, and then also a large porch area. They're more expensive, but it gives you somewhere to sit if it's raining/ when it's raining and somewhere to store all your bits and bobs (nothing valuable, of course)

One thing you should always remember- never ever take anything valuable. It isn't worth it. Take just what you need.

Last year, I was at Reading festival, and someone came into my tent in the middle of the night and stole my bag from under my head (I was using it as a pillow). I wasn't drunk or intoxicated- just asleep.

if all you want is a tent for Glasto then you want as cheap as possible ... when I was at Tesco today I saw they had cheap tents, they also do cheap ones in Argos etc ... a very easy tent to put up is the "pop up" tent, a couple of weeks ago my son got a good one from Decathlon but I know other places like Halfords do them too ... if it's just for you and your dad you only need a 2-person tent, only buy anything bigger if you're sure you're going to use it ... and even then, if you decided you wanted to go camping somewhere else as a family two 2-person tents might make more sense than one 4-person one

for Glasto you don't want to be taking lots of equipment with you ... the tent, undermat and sleeping bags is all you really need ... anything else might get stolen and cooking equipment is not a good idea, open flames in the middle of so many tents is a fire hazard

at Glasto lots of people just buy the cheapest tents available and chuck them away afterwards (especially as some years they're absolutely covered in mud)
