Glauber Henrique Silva clinches Men’s 100m butterfly gold: Day two – Maria Lenk Trophy
Glauber Henrique Silva of FIAT/MINAS clinched gold medal of the Men’s 100m butterfly on day two of the 2012 Maria Lenk Trophy in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Wednesday, April 25.
The crowd experienced ruthless efforts of Silva, who devastated hopes of his competitors by snatching gold medal of the discipline.
He faced tough competition from Kaio Marcio De Almeida of FFC/RJ but with his relentless efforts, he managed to prevail over his opponents for gold medal of the discipline.
Silva remained only two strokes ahead of Almeida and hit the finishing end for the crown of the event by reporting a time of 52.46 seconds.
His notable effort remained 0.16 seconds ahead of Almeida, who captured silver medal of the discipline by submitting a time of 52.62 seconds.
The third position of the discipline was obtained by Silva’s team-member, Marcos Antonio Macedo, who remained nearly 0.40 seconds behind and tapped the wall with the timing of 53.09 seconds.
The bronze medallist was followed by Gabriel Vasconcellos Mangabeira of ECP/SABESP and Arthur Mendes Filho of CORINTHIANS/ABDEM, who secured a joint fourth finish.
Mangabeira and Filho remained just 0.05 seconds slower from overpowering Macedo’s effort and settled on the finishing blockade as fourth position holders by reporting a time of 53.14 seconds.
The sixth position of the discipline was secured by Leonardo De Deus of CRF/RJ, who suffered a loss of 0.24 seconds from the duo of fourth fastest finishers as he touched the wall with the timing of 53.38 seconds.
He was followed by his teammate, Filipe Nobre Xavier Nunes, who remained only 0.11 seconds slower from Deus and secured seventh fastest spot of the butterfly discipline by submitting a time of 53.49 seconds.
Nunes was trailed by Henrique De Souza Martins of ECP/SABESP, who stayed just 0.04 seconds apart and posted a time of 53.53 seconds for eighth position.
Silva was contented with his alluring effort in the double lap butterfly discipline whereas the position holders were awarded accolades at the prize distribution ceremony of the championship.
Furthermore, the championship will end on April 29 after the conclusion of all races in Men and Women’s corner.
