Glavnik Irina pockets Women’s 200m IM gold: Day two – 2012 Ukraine Summer Cup
Glavnik Irina of Cues pocketed gold medal of the Women’s 200m Individual Medley (IM) on second day of the 2012 Ukraine Summer Cup in Kharkiv on Tuesday, May 8.
Irina, who recently captured bronze medal of the 800m freestyle discipline, smothered her challengers with her stunning pace in the 200m IM event.
Her scintillating effort remained comfortably ahead of her challengers throughout the discipline as she tapped the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 17.70 seconds.
The champion was followed by her teammate, Kiseleva Alena who was 2.16 seconds apart and emerged on the finishing end with an effort of 2 minutes and 19.86 seconds for silver medal.
Alena was trailed by Oksana Marchuk of RVN, who remained just 0.13 seconds slower from securing silver medal of the discipline and ended her swim in third place by submitting a time of 2 minutes and 19.99 seconds.
Marchuk stayed almost 2.50 seconds faster from her following swimmer, Kunenko Victoria of Cues, who transpired on the finishing end as fourth position holder by producing a time of 2 minutes and 22.54 seconds.
Fifth position of the discipline was secured by Lviv Catherine of K.O, who stayed approximately 2.50 seconds behind and ended her swim in a time of 2 minutes and 25.06 seconds.
Subsequently, Catherine was trailed by Malyavin Anastasia of CLC, who was just 0.01 seconds slower from occupying sixth position and tapped the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 25.07 seconds.
In the meantime, Gurzhy Anna of DPR remained 2.65 seconds away from her foregoing finisher and hit the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 27.72 seconds for seventh position.
At last, Humeniuk Hope of RVN, who failed to upset any of her competitors, emerged on the finishing block for eighth position as she completed her race in a time of 2 minutes and 29.55 seconds.
In addition, the tournament came to an end after the completion of all planned events in Men and Women’s corner while the position holders received medals and accolades for their notable efforts at the prize ceremony of the championship.
