Glen Davis, James Jones: 10 players who can encourage Dwight Howard to stay at Orlando Magic: Pt-1
The three-time reigning NBA Defensive Player of the year Champions Dwight Howard is a beast on the defence and rips apart the opposition when it comes to the offence. There are very few players in the league in this era, that have
earned the reputation of being the best on both sides of the court and Howard leads that list.
The leading rebounder of the league has drawn attention of his fellow NBA stars with his extraordinary abilities and powerful physique. The big man’s extra special athleticism not only facilitates his rebounding skills, it helps
him to run the show formidably on the offense.
Philadelphia 76ers’ swingman Andre Iguodala said on Howard, subsequent to a game he played against the big man. "It's like he can guard two guys at once. He can guard his guy and the guy coming off the pick-and-roll, which is almost
impossible to do... If he gets any more athletic or jumps any higher, they're going to have to change the rules."
The 25-year-old Howard has been constantly guiding Orlando Magic into the play-offs single-handedly since last five years. However, due to lack of support from the rest of the roster, Orlando failed to clinch an NBA title even
after becoming the Conference Champions in 2009. Dwight is the only hope for the team and he will become a free agent after next season. If Orlando do not get him some decent support in the upcoming season, the big man might shift his talents somewhere else,
where he can accomplish his championship dream.
Orlando won’t be able to infuse a star power in this year’s draft as they are without a first round pick however they need to capitalize on some free agents that can support Howard. The Magic can sign the following players to encourage
Dwight to stay in the team.
Glen Davis
Boston Celtics’ prolific power forward Ronald Glen Davis can team up with Ryan Anderson and Brandon Bass to support the superstar Howard. Davis who is nicknamed as Big Baby is a good mid-range jumper and as a result of his huge
physique, he can power the defensive system for Orlando Magic. Dwight wanted someone to help him on the defence as Davis will be a reasonable fit for the team.
Another dominating aspect of big baby’s game-play is that he takes more charge that creates a number of opportunities for the team.
James Jones
In order to stimulate the offensive system, the Orlando Magic can go with the option of Miami Heat’s small forward James Jones. The 30-year-old Jones is considered as the league’s best shooter from beyond the arc who has the potential
to power the team impressively down the stretch.
James addition in the bench play will not only help Orlando on the offense, he will be a good asset for the team to alleviate some pressure in the crunch time. If Jones pairs up with the J.J Redick, the Magic will receive a huge
boost with the scoring.
