Glen Johnson reckons he has the power to beat Carl Froch – Boxing news
The Road Warrior, Glen Johnson, has warned Carl Froch that he will not be able to deal with his power on Saturday, June 4, 2011.
The Miami-based Jamaican Glen Johnson is scheduled against Carl ‘The Cobra’ Froch in the semi-final bout of the Super Six Classics tournament this Saturday in Atlantic City. The winner of these two will then face the unbeaten World Boxing Association’s World
Super Middleweight champion Andre Ward in the final.
Froch, who is going to defend his World Boxing Council’s Super Middleweight crown and his promoter, Eddie Hearn, have given a lot of statements so far. However, this time Johnson has responded to spice up the things ahead of his fight.
The 42-year-old pugilist Johnson told the media that he is in the best shape of his life. He also claimed he has the power to break his opponent’s jaw.
Though he admired Froch’s abilities to fight in the ring, he said he did not believe Froch can really beat him.
While speaking on his inclusion, he said, “I'm an ice cream freak and that's what I miss most but it's worth it. I don't know how old I feel. I just know I feel as great as I've ever felt in my life. I'm lighter but stronger and while I respect Carl I don't
believe he has what it takes to beat me. Then I'll take care of Andre Ward in the final.”
“I don't do any courageous stuff. Don't drink, party, smoke or do drugs. I do this game the right way and that is what will beat Carl Froch on Saturday,” he said.
Johnson, who has won 51 of his 67 fights with 35 knockouts, was asked about his future plans with the sport. He replied, “How long will I keep doing this? As long as I feel good and enjoy my boxing, which is likely to be the case for a while yet.”
These statements from Johnson have really added fuel to the fire and let’s see if Johnson can really pull off a shocking win or not.
