Glenn Hoddle says Carlo Ancelotti firing will set Blues back – Premier League news
Glenn Hoddle, the former manager for Chelsea, believes that letting Carlo Ancelotti go would be a step backwards for the club. The current season has been the worst for the Blues in recent history, and the first trophy-less season since the Russian billionaire
Roman Abramovich bought the club.
Chelsea look set to end the season in second place and even the double Ancelotti achieved in his first season may not be enough to save his http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684. Glenn Hoddle believes that if Ancelotti is sacked it would set the club back, and urged Roman Abramovich to give
Ancelotti another season.
He stated, "I think Chelsea have probably changed their management team too much in the last five, six, seven years, I think if they do it again there is a chance they will be stepping backwards rather than going forwards”.
While commenting on the success of last season, Hoddle said that winning the Premier League and the FA cup in his first full season proved that he has what it takes to win silverware and should not be judged on the basis of one season. The former coach went
on to say, "He proved last year that he can be successful for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 so I think he certainly needs one more year to prove that again."
Even though Ancelotti has not been fired until now, there are betting houses taking bets on whether the Italian will be given his marching orders from Stamford Bridge.
There are a number of big names already being thrown around and former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho and Guus Hiddink are also being linked to the job. Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp and Barcelona’s Pep Guardiola are also on the list. But the man in the front
is the current Porto manager Andre Villas-Boas who recently won the Europa League with the Portuguese club.
Carlo Ancelotti has time and again said that he will not quit and wants to carry on. One thing that he has in his favour is that he has the support of his team and also of the fans. Abramovich has proven in the last few years that he is not very patient
when it comes to giving managers time to settle. And if former trends are to continue then Ancelotti’s days are surely numbered, but according to Hoddle, Chelsea should continue with the Italian.
Hoddle believes that Chelsea is a club that is in need of reshaping, and they need a man at the helm who knows the inside workings of the club. He added that at a time like this if they bring in a new man to manage the team it will be very difficult for
him.
Chelsea has one more game to go in the season, and the fate of Ancelotti is expected to be decided soon after that. Odds are heavily against him, but who knows he may still live on to fight another day.
