Glenn McGrath confident Australia will bounce back
The Australian team has been under the scanner for the past year following their dismal performances. However, legendary Australian fast bowler Glenn McGrath has claimed that the team will rise again and dominate the world of cricket, as it did for the better
part of the last two decades.
McGrath has the highest wickets in Test cricket amongst the fast bowlers. He had been a part of the Australian team when the team was almost unbeatable. He retired from cricket after the 2007 World Cup in which he was the highest wicket-taker. Australia
won that World Cup – their third consecutive trophy - and McGrath was a member of the team on all three occasions.
After Australia failed to regain the Ashes from England, McGrath said, “It disappointing, there's no doubt about that. Growing up as a kid in Australia the Ashes is always the big one.”
The Australian team is not even in the top three teams of the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Test rankings, and has been widely criticised for that. McGrath was disappointed with the criticism saying, “It amazes me how when http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 was dominant,
everyone was saying how bad it was for world cricket. Now they've lost a few games everyone's calling for their heads.”
He further said that the current team has the potential to defeat any side in the world, and this is the same team that will once again be dominant over every opponent in the future. He stated, “It wasn't that long ago where the current Australian team won
13 in a row, so I've got total faith the boys will bounce back and we'll get back to the top of the tree.”
There were also suggestions that McGrath might coach the Australian bowlers but he said that he hasn’t considered that possibility yet, but will give advice to the bowlers whenever needed. He said, “I'm always happy to give advice where I can. I guess I'll
chat to the boys a fair bit after this Test match and see what I can do but as for an official role, we’ll see what the future holds. There's plenty to keep me busy.”
The final Ashes Test will be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground. England leads the series 2-1 retaining the Ashes.
