http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Glenn-Donald-McGrath-c60183 terms young pacemen as Australia’s future – Cricket News Update
Former Australian pacer, Glenn McGrath, believes that with the presence of talented young quicks like Pat Cummins, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/James-Pattinson-c1653, the future of Aussie cricket is quite bright.
He heaped special praise on the new seamers, and said that trio will be the backbone of Australian pace attack for many years to come. He described that it is a great thing for Kangaroos to have multiple options in the pace department, and the fast bowling
attack will be Australia’s main strength for the next decade and beyond.
"I've been very impressed with James Pattinson, along with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Iftikhar-Ali-Khan-Pataudi-Nawab-of-c64075 Cummins and Mitchell Starc. It's an exciting time for Australian cricket with these young bowlers coming through. They look big and strong, you look at James Pattinson and he is strong. It's
unlucky for Pat Cummins that he is out for a little while," said McGrath who is Australia's second-highest wicket-taker in Tests (563) after http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shane-Keith-Warne-c89672 (708).
The 18-year-old Cummins, who is currently out of action due to a stress fracture in his foot, was pretty impressive during his only Test outing against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757, grabbing seven wickets in the game. Pattinson also started off his career with a bang, and
picked up 14 scalps in his first two Tests against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754.
With 381 wickets in 250 matches, McGrath is Australia’s leading wicket-taker in the 50-over format of the sport. And during his long career spanning 14 years, he seldom came across with any serious fitness issues.
McGrath has no doubts over the talent of the new generation of Aussies bowlers, but the only things he wants team management to do is to keep these young guns as fit as possible.
He urged the sport’s governing body in the country to pay special attention to the fitness of the young players in order to get back to the top of the rankings.
"They have got off to a great start. You need to work on your fitness off the field, get as strong and fit as possible, but nothing compares to match fitness,” shared the 41-year-old legend.
