Glenn Snyders captures Men’s 50m breast-stroke crown: Day five – 2011 World University Games
New Zealand’s Glenn Snyders impressed the arena with his scintillating performance in the Men’s 50m breast-stroke meet, on day five of the 2011 World University Games in Shenzhen, China, on Thursday, August 18.
In the corresponding meet, Snyders came out strongly and conquered the golden crown on the podium by posting a stunning time of 27.37 seconds. That splash was under Kevin Swander’s previous best time of 27.14 seconds, set back at the 2009 edition of the
meet. More importantly, Snyders moved into seventh spot in the current rankings of world swimming. After the race, Snyders was really contented and pleased with his individual splash in the respective meet.
Meanwhile, Joao Junior Gomes of Brazil captured the silver medal on the podium by submitting an impressive time of 27.60 seconds. That swim was short of Gomes’s previous best time of 27.58 seconds. In the corresponding race, Mattia Pesce of Italy secured
the bronze medal on the podium by posting an impressive time of 27.80 seconds. His performance moved him to the top 20th place in the current rankings of world swimming.
Andrea Giulio Zorzi of South Africa was placed fourth in a time of 27.81 seconds. Zorzi lost the bronze medal of the meet against Pesce with a fringe margin of 0.01 seconds. In the meantime, Felipe Lima of Brazil rounded out the top five with an impressive
time of 27.87 seconds. Nicholas Ferrif of New Zealand was placed sixth in a time of 28.26 seconds, while Gabor Sek Financ of Hungary finished seventh after he ended his swim in a time of 28.40 seconds. Imri Ganiel of Israel earned eighth position with a time
of 28.40 seconds.
Earlier in the day, Jennifer Connolly of United States won the Women’s 50m back-stroke title with a sterling time of 27.92 seconds. Aliaksandra Herasimenia of Belarus snared silver medal on the podium by posting a stunning time of 27.93 seconds, while Grace
Loh of Australia picked up the bronze title in the respective meet by submitting a time of 28.37 seconds.
