Glenn Snyders will compete in the European legs of 2011 Swimming World Cup- Swimming News
The most astounding breast-stroke swimmer of New Zealand Swimming, Glenn Snyders, is going to compete in the European legs of the 2011 Swimming World Cup series.
Snyders, who is the national champion and record holder, is ready to take on elite breast-stroke swimmers in the European stages of the series. The World Cup is a seven stage series and is organised by international aquatics sport governing body, Federation
Internationale de Natation (FINA).
The first stop of the series was scheduled in Dubai, which ended on October 8. The next three stops of the World Cup are scheduled in Stockholm, Moscow and Berlin while the last three stops in Singapore, Beijing and Tokyo.
Stockholm event will take place from October 15-16, Moscow from October 18-19 and Berlin from October 22-23.
With the successful completion of Dubai event, the European legs of the series have attracted many elite swimmers. The Australian and Canadian squad has already confirmed their participation in the in the European stages, while the all-time favourite, Michael
Phelps, will also compete in Berlin.
Snyders, who is the key player of New Zealand swimming squad, has represented his nation at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and the 2011 Shanghai World Championships.
Nevertheless, his participation at the World Cup will provide him a chance to compete with world’s best three times in just nine days.
Snyders’s coach Mark Regan said, “Racing with top international competition in three meets over nine days will provide the type of hard and high quality swimming that will be invaluable. It’s short course racing which will test his starts and turns under
pressure. Mostly it’s just a fantastic chance to get a lot of quality racing under pressure. You can’t beat that.”
Regan added that this would give Snyders an opportunity to compete with the best breast-stroke swimmers in the world.
In addition, with the upcoming 2012 London Olympic Games, the Swimming World Cup is of significant importance, as it will provide a chance to international swimmers, who are headed for the imminent battle.
