Glenn Snyders wins Men’s 50m breaststroke gold – FINA/Arena Swimming World Cup
Glenn Snyders of New Zealand won gold medal of the Men’s 50m breaststroke on foremost day of the 2012 FINA/ARENA Swimming World Cup in Stockholm, Sweden on Saturday, October 13.
Snyders experienced strong resistance from his closest competitors throughout the race but with his unrelenting efforts, he managed to secure top spot on the podium.
With his quickest response to the start, Snyders gained a comfortable lead over his opponents and paved his way to the victory stand for gold medal by producing a time of 26.61 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Junior Joao Gomes of Brazil, who remained 0.08 seconds away from his foregoing finisher and surfaced on the wall as silver medallist by submitting a time of 26.69 seconds.
Gomes was trailed by Aleksander Hetland of Norway, who was 0.14 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and emerged on the finishing end for third position by reporting a time of 26.83 seconds.
Hetland enjoyed a benefit of 0.15 seconds over his closest swimmer, Fabio Scozzoli of Italy, who was unable to reach the podium and ended his swim in fourth best place by clocking a time of 26.98 seconds.
Fifth position of the event was obtained by Neil Versfeld of South Africa, who remained 0.10 seconds slower from his former finisher and surfaced on the wall with a timing of 27.08 seconds.
Subsequently, Versfeld was trailed by Marco Koch of Germany, who remained 0.09 seconds slower from his foregoing swimmer and completed his race in a time of 27.17 seconds for sixth position.
The German swimmer was followed by Tales Cerdeira of Brazil, who was almost full body length apart and reached the finishing end for seventh position by posting a time of 28.08 seconds.
Eighth spot of the race was obtained by Gabriel Sousa of Brazil, who was 0.07 seconds behind and hit the wall with an effort of 28.15 seconds.
In addition, Snyders received massive admiration from the crowd for his gruelling efforts at the victory ceremony of the event. Furthermore, he stressed that he would continue his hard work to achieve the same in forthcoming events.
