Glenside Pearl wins The Swindon January Monkey 509er – (Heat 1) at Swindon
The blue b***h trained by R A Jones, Glenside Pearl, marvellously notched up top position by beating the most favourite hound in The Swindon January Monkey 509er – (Heat 1) Open Race of 509m category on January 18 at Swindon.
The victor competed against World Charm, Lady Jaro, Freedom Brave, Hedsor Arthur and BleisceTom. World Charm was the only favourite runner of the event with starting price of 7 to 4.
Much to the surprise of many spectators and bookmakers, Glenside Pearl displayed an outstanding performance to trigger the unexpected upset.
The son of Ningbo Jack broke from trap 4 when the race started at 20:19. From the very beginning, the b***h was keen to take the lead. A few seconds after breaking, she managed to outstrip her opponents.
After taking lead, the veteran b***h increased her speed suddenly to maintain a safe distance from the back runners, but World Charm soon caught up with him.
From that point onwards, it was a tough battle for victory between Glenside Pearl and World Charm with the former slightly ahead all the time.
Finally, Glenside Pearl crossed the finish line first. She took 29.95 seconds to complete the distance. It was the fourth consecutive top spot by the b***h, who started her career on June 16, 2011 at Henlow.
In the beginning of his career, Jones’ trainee posed to be somewhat off-coloured, but she has surprisingly surged recently. Now, it is expected that she will run a few of the upcoming races, with the favourite tag on the basis of her four glorious
triumphs in a row.
Jones applauded his dog a lot after last night’s race, and predicted further glaring victories for her in future.
Despite sturdy struggle, World Charm finished second in the race with a difference of ½ a length. Breaking from trap 2, the favourite hound reached the boundary strap in 30.00 seconds flat.
The brindle and white dog is trained by M Walsh. Whelped in March 2008, the son of Barbies Bluebird started his career in April, 2010.
The third position went to Lady Jaro. After breaking from trap 6, the black b***h bridged the distance in 30.16 seconds, and trailed by 2 lengths. The daughter of Three Star Gem is trained by K R Hutton. She was whelped in September, 2007.
Overall, it was an astounding and interesting race which ended with startling results, but it sets the mood of the upcoming events at the track.
