Glider Material?

Me and my friends need to make a model gliger witha wing span of no more than a metre what material should we use?

  1. As mentioned, Balsa for sure. If you want to bend it, steam it into a bend.


  2. Use balsa for general construction. Use hard balsa for the spars and load bearing sections. You can cover with any of the iron on coverings (Solar Film/Monokote etc). Do not use too much epoxy, it will make it heavy. Use white glue or any of the super glues.

    If you need any help, just ask. I will help you in all aspects of design, construction, finishing, balancing and flying.

  3. Balsa wood is the traditional material.

    You should be able to find it at any hobby store.

  4. Balsa, as mentioned before to make the ribs/longerons/frame and silk paper to cover the assembly, (to make it as light as possible)
