Gliding across snow? ?

how do you get wood so it glides across snow like skis or snow boards do? what do you need to do to it/ put on it to work?

  2. The surface must be smooth, then a special base material is applied, many years ago it was called  "Base Wax"  Fasski was the brand I used. It was like a spaecial paint that was applied in the early season  and ski wax is then applied over it. It will slide better than bare wood, but not nearly as well as our modern ski/snowboard base material. Since the "Base Wax" is not made now, just use canning wax melted on to the base of the board and scrapped smooth. Have fun.

  3. On my wooden toboggan I just hot wax the base with the same wax that I use on my skis
