How would a major International conflict like a war disrupt the global economy today?

P.S.: Please cite examples and explain how the consequences of the world would have a impact in the American economy, especially with the current state we're in.

Think about it. If we started a war with Iran (the second biggest oil supplier to the USA) then the gas prices would go up 3x folds. It wouldn't only affect the USA, it would affect the gas worldwide. Just because we attack Iran, we could s***w it up for every country in the world including India, China, and Japan which are the three biggest product suppliers of the US.
