Question:

Global WARNING....Warming??

I've been researching the topic for over two weeks now and I firstly gather it's become a bit of a bore but more importantly I've found that there is a big dispute as to what global warming actually is...

Yes we all know that the earth is warming..bla bla bla, but all very well what's it from...is it natural cause "all part of the cycle", is it just another crash boom bang from "mother nature"

Or is it simply man's "HORRIBLE" influence that has "destroyed" this planet.

Or maybe according to others a thing amongst the politicians to "get back on capitilism"...??

Let me know what you think, let's resolve this matter amongst ourselves... cause there seems to be a heck of alot of confusion out there...

Oh and hang on don't let me forget about global dimming aswell...

Maybe it's just nature taking it's coarse and only because the human civilisations lives along to see it (if you know what i mean) and that us people can interact with and have our own opinions cause dispute's

  1. There is not a big dispute

there is a loud minority, many tied to the oil industry , who are following the same tactic that was followed by the tobacco companies when it was first brought to light how unhealthy it was. That being : Create the illusion of uncertainty

Honestly - if you go into a university- grab a good scientist- and there is a 99% chance they tell you AGW is correct.

Looks like you have you eyes open. Can’t say that about to many people in society today. Most of us walk around with blinders until a catastrophe hits, then we wake up pretty quick. Unfortunately we go blind again a few months later…

Let me start off by saying we (my family and I) live 100% off of the grid and are completely self-sufficient with a 0% Carbon footprint. I believe this is the first step anyone can make “help the environment”. Once you convert your own life style to a greener more eco friendly route, you can start helping others.

We definitely didn't start global warming, but we definitely do contribute to it now.

Natural gas (or Methane along with other thanes) for example, is completely a natural contributer to global warming and is derived pretty much the same way as oil. ie. Matter (animal, plant etc) decomposes over time resulting in a anaerobic (hope I spelled that right) decay of non-fossil organic material / gas (natural gas or methane).

One problem with global warming is that the concept is so vague in the minds of the people. The critical interpretation is basically how it’s explained in school and the news. However most of the public see global warming connected with the ozone and pollutants which cause harmful greenhouse gasses, etc. therefore investigating and fighting for things like alternative energy (ie. Solar, wind, hydrogen, ethanol, biodiesel, etc)

Greenhouse gases are real and do contribute to global warming. Think of the different gas layers like ozone (o3) that circumference the globe as the clear plastic on a greenhouse. Longer rays of light from the Sun go in and reflect off different thermal masses bouncing back and creating shorter lengths of energy that cannot exist the plastic barrier. These beams then just continue to bounce around inside the green house until they’re finally absorbed completely (some do escape but very few), thereby warming the greenhouse greatly even in cold temperatures.

Basically there are 2 ways that this reaction (or lack of) affects the planet. Global warming and global cooling.

    1. as we add to the gases in the stratosphere, where the ozone layer is (Carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, etc), we add to the plastic of the greenhouse, trapping more short wave length energy and heating the earth more.

    2. as we deplete the ozone (with chlorofluorocarbons or CFCs), we allow more long wave length energy, which bounces back out to space without heating any thermal masses on earth, thereby cooling the planet.

It’s pretty easy to see the results..

    Melting ice sheets & glaciers

    Floods & droughts

    Great hurricanes & cyclones

    Seasonal extremes

    Seasonal phenomena’s

    Species extinction

    New & resurgent diseases

There are many ways to stop both global warming and cooling from accruing or at least slow them down until we can discover a way to reverse it, but Stop burning fossil fuels is the biggest.

I currently own 2 converted h2 vehicles which run on 100% hydrogen and 1 EV (electric vehicle), not to mention our home is completely off the grid, using alternative energy (solar, wind, etc)

  3. I read it, but what was the question.

I try do what I can to help keep it green.

  4. Sorry, it was a bit too long to read

  5. global warming and global dimming are 2 contradicting phenomena:

Global warming is most likely caused by the accumulation of CO2 in the atmosphere, resulting from the use of fossil fuels for the last 300 years, but mostly during the last 20 years, global warming causes the average temperatures  to rise Globally by nearly one degree, with additional possible rise of 5 degrees, it also causes the climate to become more energetic ("wilder").

global dimming is most certainly caused by the accumulation of solid particles in the atmosphere, mostly from incomplete burning of solid and liquid fuels, these cause global reduction of temperatures, as they create high rise clouds that reflect the sun, it also causes change in precipitation in areas that usually benefit from monsoon rains.

  6. YAWN.

  7. Global warming is a theory and yet so many people are convincing us it is happening, so now we have to pay more tax for bigger cars and more for petrol etc...

It is an excuse to tax us more. I don't believe it is happening I think it is totally natural and even if it were happening it is absurd to think that humans could stop it. Thankfully I think more people don't believe any of it despite all the media hype.

  8. my personal views on global warming are that i think it's just the earth going through a natural warming phase (i tend to think of it as a reverse ice age) i doubt it's mans fault because we've been releasing Co2 on this planet for thousands of years and people are starting to say it's only now that all this carbon dioxide is destroying earth... highly improbable

  9. The facts are that the earth has gone through numerous warming/cooling cycles before - all without human intervention. AGW believers tend to commit the logical fallacy of "non causa pro causa" (when something is identified as the cause of an event, but it has not actually been shown to be the cause) when they insist that THIS time it's humankind's fault, while ignoring that other planets in the solar system are experiencing warming trends at the same time. The culprit here on earth though is claimed to be CO2 - yet CO2 is only 3% of the atmosphere while water vapor causes 95% of the greenhouse effect. Further, humans only contribute 5% of that 3%, making the human influence very small.

What you should do to find out more is to first learn the basic science behind earth's climate - the basics are it's not really hard, although the many factors that contribute to total climate are quite complex in their interrelationships. Then research the evidence from both sides. Don't believe everything you read, as there is a huge amount of unfounded alarmism.

  10. for me, it's because of the human activity. why? why dont you look around? try to observe people around you. i'm sure you will notice something. something that isn't rigth. the people from today are very different from the ones that lived yesterday. yeserday people isn't inventing something that can harm the people from tomorrow, the people today, they are inventing stuff that is very harmful for us, for the animals, for our home. i wish people can see my point of view here. i want to preserve the beauty of our home, i want the next generation to see and feel the beauty around us.

  11. i kinda think its both....i dunno

i mean ckome on now..da more **** we do da more da i3e ckaps melt BUT ba3k when dem homo ere3tus mothafu3kas wuz around, the weather ckontinued to get warmer and warmer and dey aint have no d**n ckars n fa3tories n ****...da weather wuzz ckhangin n gittin warmer like it do now witout all dat ****

i think its mother nature BUT we ARE speedin up da pro3ess

  12. Global Cooling is what we should be worryingabout, down to nature not man

  13. Don't worry about it! In the end humans are naturally predestined to destroy themselves regardless of what steps are taken. It's all part of the cycle that every beginning has an end.
