Global Warming Affect on North-east America?

How will global warming change the weather/climate of north-east America (around NY area)? For example: will it be extra snowy, will there be more precipitation, etc.

  1. Basically, if a warming trend continues, this is what can happen in theory:

    The warmer waters of the Pacific and Atlantic Ocean will alter the stream of the polar/sub-tropical jets.  The polar jet will get pushed further north in the winter, and in turn, instead of bringing weather systems thru the northeast, it will allow the Bermuda high to push further north...  creating a bubble of high pressure off-shore and allowing more droughts in winters, but more heavy coastal influenced rain in the warmer months. This can also create warmer temperatures in the long run which will alter a number of things related to local economies, agriculture among other things.  

    I suppose a gradual increase in the water level is possible too, theoretically... but I don't agree with it occurring at the level that the media wants us to believe.


  2. well, with the melting of the polar ice caps, NY could have raised sea level.
