Question:

Global Warming? Are we killing the planet with our poisons or are we countering it?

You hear everyday about 'reduce your carbon footprint' and 'we're killing the planet'.

But is the world cooling instead of warming?

I heard something recently that we're actually countering the global warming and the temperature has gone down? Is it true?

Many thanks!

  1. The planets temperature fluctuates over great periods of time. Part of your confusion is one of the debated parts of the arguement, are we going towards an iceage or a heat wave? (either could be bad)

Peoples main concerns with carbon footprints are that if we release too much CO2 into the air then we could bring on an early ice age because carbon particles etc would block out the sun and cause all kinds of nasty. (remember the air temperature only need to drop a couple of degrees on average to make a significant difference)

As for the final part of your question, we are nowhere near countering the effects we are having on the environment yet, not even close.

  2. Global warming is the biggest scam ever!!!!

  3. From my viewpoint there is global warming and global cooling in both concepts over the atmosphere. The release of carbon gases into the atmosphere is said to cover up volcanoes and cool down the atmosphere. The number of trees that are cut down daily also speeds up the global warming process because as you probably know trees absorb carbon dioxide and keep our world relatively clean of harmful gases. Global warming actually helps crops such as corn and wheat, but to a point. If you still wish for further references you should watch the Day after Tommorow starring Dennis Quaid and Jack Gylenhal which is a prediction of what may happen if the polar ice caps were to melt into the ocean. The North Atlantic Current would change and disrupt the balance of salt water with a high fresh water content. I don't know if this answers your question but that is what I believe.

  4. Nope, untrue. Global warming is not "warming" its a climate change. Its warming and cooling. Its going to happen anyway, but we are speeding up the rate by living so d**n dirty. As long as we are using fossil fuels and raping the planet of its natural resources we will be damaging the earth.

  5. The earth is cooling.
