Has the area you live in been "fingerprinted?"

How is your community adapting, and what actions are underway to mitigate the situation?

  1. Great links!

Here in the Seattle area, there is not much being done to address AGW. I'm sure the folks in California are now concerned about climate change!

  2. The government always messes everything up (including the environment which I care about even though I reject AGW)--and then they blame us for it and force us to pay for it.

  3. um... no. I seriously hope we are not fingerprinted.

We are adapting by choosing not to believe the government hoax that is global warming.

    *down with big brother*

  4. I read your first link and it is painfully biased and it seems to me the intention of the article is to misinform, or exaggerate.

    For example, it said:

"Frequent and severe heat waves lead to increases in heat-related illness and death, especially in urban areas and among the elderly, the young, the ill, and the poor. "

Yet it doesn't explain that many more lives will be saved from cold related deaths which far outnumber heat related deaths.  If you do an honest assessment, I don't think you can conclude anything except that truth isn't high on their agenda of the authors of that article.

  5. Yes.  I have been to Glacier National Park in British Columbia to get pictures before they are gone.  The best skiing in North America is suffering with later and later seasons every year.  Snow melt and more rain equals more flooding.

Calgary has summer water rationing and civic recycling programs but the most common vehicles on the road here are still full sized (and bigger!) 4X4 pickup trucks and SUVs.  Alberta and Texas are the two largest markets for pickup trucks in the world.  People complain about rising gas prices, but they aren't willing to give up their gas guzzling status symbols.

    It's sad really.

  6. As we see it, the only situation that needs to be mitigated is other people trying to push their views of how they want us to live into our lives.

Some people should try minding their own business.

  7. In my area, we are very active.  We get the global warming promoters off the street and out of our schools.

Talk about global warming is a form air pollution and is not tolerated.  People who believe the air we breath out is going to end the world are dismissed as silly.

People here work on productive things.

  8. Not much warming here.

  9. The closest ones are

    28. California -- Butterfly range shift. Edith's Checkerspot Butterfly has been disappearing from the lower elevations and southern limits of its range.

    35. Monterey Bay , California -- Shoreline sea life shifting northwards.

Unfortunately there's not much we can do to adapt to or mitigate these situations.
