If you believe in the fact I wonder what your remedy would be.

  1. The straight answer is that nobody really knows.  We do know that atmospheric CO2 levels have increased about ten percent in the last forty years.  There is some evidence that the earth is getting warmer.  There is no good evidence that these effects are related, or if so, which is cause and which is effect.  The earth's temperature has been fluctuating since its beginning, and will no doubt continue to do so irrespective of anything that humanity does.  One thing that we know for sure is that attempting to reduce CO2 emissions in any meaningful way will be impossibly costly; the UN has proposed a program with a price tag of $557,000,000,000,000 -- more than the total value of every asset on the planet.

  2. fairytale

  3. I do believe that there is some global warming, but I do not believe that man's progress is the only cause.  sure we may have played a small part, but I mostly think it's because the world " just changes".  I also don't think it is progressing severely like they say, I think that we are just getting better at detecting smaller changes in the atmosphere.

  4. Fact.  The scientific data is overwhelming.

We need to reduce fossil fuel use by constructing alternative energy; nuclear, solar, and wind.  And vehicles that run on batteries or hydrogen.

  5. We go through global warming periods, and its all natural. This new concept of Man-made  global warming is new, only because they can finally sell it today, but no way could they sell it years ago.

Its taken decades for the schemers to get all the media up to hype, but its happened. Television, newspapers, magazines, and the Al gore science hacks have all gotten into the game of money making.

There is no cure for global warming. Its natural, and we do not have the technology to effect the weather. When global warming is found  to be not happening,  I’ll be the Hacks will take credit for fixing it, where the true fix is beyond their understandings or capabilities.

  6. total f***ing fact. yes humans caused it.. were to blame 4 it all

  7. ABSOLUTE FICTION! Cause for one thing we haven't been on this earth  long enough and also for another...we are ants compared to the earth. I mean we think that the Earth cannot take care of itself. It's absolutely stupid to think that we have this much control over the Earth when we ourselves cant even predict tomorrow's weather 100%!!!  For another thing...The Sun creates the most green house gases than the Earth will ever make, so you want us to burn out the Sun so we could save the Earth too? All Global Warming is, is just a cycle that the Earth goes through, A NATURAL CYCLE!

  8. Its very real and I am very afraid of the future consequences. Today, we saw the melting of an ice shelf (about 600 sq miles) floating away. It is really a cause of concern.

The future looks bleak for our children.

  9. people need to look around, and look far. not just your suburb or  city or state or country.

the earth goes thru cycles to heal and condition itself. aside from this natural occurence, we can't really deny that we've been raping our planet. did you ever guys wonder what will HAPPEN to YOU and your CHILDREN if our mother earth has started its process of healing?

you might be living near a fault line, or near a body of water, or a tropical island, or in the tornado alley.  what if earth has decided to cool itself or release some pent up energy and have an earthquake? buildings, livelihood destroyed, lives taken, there would be tsunamis. or killer tornado or cyclones?

disasters are a part of life i know, but what if you can do something about it??

just go to any major city and you will so smog, the garbage, the pollution. it hurts the planet and it also hurts humans and animals.

there's a strong possibility of famine, which is caused by shortage of food. rice, corn, and wheat products have been slowly depleting because of poor production. farmers can't harvest because of erratic seasons and cyclones, pest and their crops being used as fuels, other countries make golf courses out of rice and corn fields. rice and wheat products shortage is real, and its' happening in Asia.

and the poor countries will take the brunt of it. sure developed and developing countries can afford to feed their people, they have to spend more to provide food to its citizens, thereby restricting food to other people who needs it the most.

the sea level is rising, the fish and other sea creatures are migrating to cooler areas, so another source of food for people - again is depleting.

the list goes on an on.

the earth is healing itself from the abuse and global warming is real. it can be caused by us humans and it might just be a natural cycle. but it doesn't mean we shouldn't DO OUR PART IN HELPING EARTH HELP ITSELF. we can't afford to be that selfish. we're living here after all. and that's what we can do.

simple things, when done collective will carry a lot of weight.   switching lights and power that not's really in use. if school/workplace is not that far you can walk, or if you really can't you can do carpool. it decreases emissions and saves you money for gas. plant trees, even herbs, small plants. recycle.

everybody must  take responsibility. and everybody must take  accountability. we can't turn a blind eye anymore and say nothing is ever our fault. we can't wash our hands and say nothing you ever did was harmful to others. dont just chalk it up to "it's just a fad, it's earth's business so i don't really care"

if there's anything we can do to ease the brunt of these changes so my children would not suffer then we should do it.

  10. Of course it's real. And of course it's humanity's fault.

There really isn't any other explanation for it except for sun cycles, which isn't very reasonable.

I don't think there's a solution to it, though, the way the world is going now. If everyone was willing, it could be stopped. But unless we decreased our emissions dramatically in the next 10 years or so, it's not going to happen.

  11. I've used this quote before but in this crowd it needs to be said again.

"A great many people think they are thinking when

they are really rearranging their prejudices."  William James

Have you noticed that the skeptics usually don't really have anything to say, other than it's a hoax, it's a scam, it's a communist conspiracy or you know the rap.

    Where's the science?

Pretty much all the skeptic scientists have been shown to be shills for the Heartland Institute and other propaganda machines of the oil industry and similar interests.

    Skeptic Argument:

"Global warming is a hoax perpetrated by environmental extremists and liberals who want an excuse for more big government (and/or world government via the U.N.).

"This is a common line, regardless of how ridiculous it is, so it should not go unanswered."

"Every major scientific institution dealing with climate, ocean, and/or atmosphere agrees that the climate is warming rapidly and the primary cause is human CO2 emissions. In addition to that list, see also this joint statement (PDF) that specifically and unequivocally endorses the work and conclusions of the IPCC Third Assessment report. The statement was issued by:"

"But if scientists are too liberal and politicians too unreliable, perhaps you find the opinion of key industry representatives more convincing:

BP, the largest oil company in the UK and one of the largest in the world, has this opinion:

There is an increasing consensus that climate change is linked to the consumption of carbon based fuels and that action is required now to avoid further increases in carbon emissions as the global demand for energy increases.

Shell Oil (yes, as in oil, the fossil fuel) says:

Shell shares the widespread concern that the emission of greenhouse gases from human activities is leading to changes in the global climate.

"Eighteen CEOs of Canada's largest corporations had this to say in an open letter to the Prime Minister of Canada:

Our organizations accept that a strong response is required to the strengthening evidence in the scientific assessments of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). We accept the IPCC consensus that climate change raises the risk of severe consequences for human health and security and the environment. We note that Canada is particularly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change. "

"Have the environazis seized the reigns of industrial power, in addition to infiltrating the U.N., the science academies of every developed nation, and the top research institutes of North America? That just doesn't seem very likely."

"Scientific skepticism is a healthy thing. Scientists

should always challenge themselves to expand their knowledge, improve their understanding and refine their theories. Yet this isn't what happens in global warming skepticism. Skeptics vigorously criticise any evidence that supports anthropogenic global warming (AGW) and yet eagerly, even blindly embrace any argument, op-ed piece, blog, study or 15 year old that refutes AGW"

"Honest skeptics persist at trying to convince their

colleagues of alternative conclusions, and they do it by submitting their manuscripts for publication. If they do not get published, then it is because their data, their arguments, their assumptions, and their

conclusions did not stand up to careful scrutiny, not because reviewers were predisposed to a different opinion. Oh sure, some reviewers can be opinionated and have their own political ax to grind, but with persistence, you can find enough fair academics to get any legitimate conclusion published. My years as a journal editor, as a reviewer, and as an author of scientific articles validates my position that most academics will give a valid minority position a fair evaluation."

"Global warming, as a scientific issue, remains

unresolved, and because of its complexity much

conflicting and marginal data exists. But the

conclusions reached by Robinson et al., upon which The Wall Street Journal news item was based, in my opinion and that of my class, cannot stand the scrutiny of objective peer-review. Our judgement notwithstanding, The Wall Street Journal presented an unpublished manuscript as actual science to a gullible business world. Giving support and credence to an unpublished manuscript certainly reflects poorly on

The Wall Street Journal and its standards of

reporting and objectivity. We know The Wall Street Journal’s science reporting cannot be trusted if they don't know the difference between opinion and science, or worse, if they do know the difference, then they're just dishonest."

    http://www.reall.org/newsletter/v06/n08/...

"And please don't forget that anthropogenic global warming has been for a centruy the underdog theory, it is only very recently that the mountains of research have dragged a generally conservative scientific community inexorably to a very unpleasant conclusion"

  12. Deniers can try to muddy the water with rubbish about mars & Pluto or increased solar output (when it is recorded as decreasing) or rubbish about Nostodumass.

The simple facts are Co2 has risen over the last 150 years also over the last 150 years we have greatly increased our use of fossil fuels which give off Co2.

Regardless of a cold northern winter glaciers around the world are shrinking and many small clues, such as trees blooming 2 weeks earlier for spring than they did 100 years ago, point to a long term temp increase.

  13. Fact.  Yes.

Conserve energy, curb population growth, reduce immigration into developed countries, and minimize new development while working on technological solutions.

  14. Fact - We need more nuclear power plants and investment in battery technology.  Most people could commute in battery powered cars.  Save the natural gas for heating and cooking.  Stop the scare tactics and lying about man causing global warming, it's a cyclical phenomenon.
