Now, my understanding of global warming is this - that the decay of the ozone layer will cause unprotect UV rays to enter the Earth and melt the polar ice caps, causing a second ice age.
Will, with the recent chunks of the antartic breaking away and melting, one would think that the ozone layer is barely hanging in there! But, my thoughts were this - and mind you, this is from an uneducated mind for the mathematics behind scientific theory:
If the extreme heat from the raw rays hit the Earth, they would cause draughts. If the polar ice caps melt, wouldn't it just be filling up the waters that are being burned away? Why must the ice caps CONTINUE to melt afterwards? Wouldn't the freezing powers of the previously melted ice slow the process by re-freezing them? If it's cold enough to freeze the Earth, surely it can freeze the oceans too!
