  1. At this point in my inquiry into GW I believe it to be mainly BS. Seems like natural fluctuation in climate. If not, I believe the earth will manage the problem in it's own unique way, and humans will adapt or not.

  2. Global warming is not the worse problem for our climat.

May be we will discover that global warming is good for  the earth and the climat  if we stop the over pumping of underground reserves of water and drainages of the surfaces.

For that result, we should  stop to hide  that the worse for the climat is the increasing of the drylands and deserts  because of different actions  of human activities.

Sure the climat we change because the globale warming but we can  help the climat to change in the right way , not ine the bad way.

Because the increasing of drylands, the sun energy  make warm the rocks  and then the air...

Because of the phenomenous  it diminuish the growing up of vegetation and reduice then the co2 recycling.

So just  put the water runoff in the deserts and  wait the trees  will comme soon.

  3. it has been proven that the temperature has lowered 1oc since the last 100 years or so, i think it's not global warming, it's just weather that's plain CRAZY!

  4. Two Words:

    BS

  5. B.S. they complain about Greenland melting, but they dont take into account that its melted before,so much that the Vikings had farming settlements on it at least 500 years or more ago, then the ice came back and forced them to move elsewhere.Nor do they take in account that since Mt. St. Helens, weve had numerous volcanic activity, globally,MT. Pinatubo, some in the South Americas and so on.this will also produce greenhouse gases that, can eventually cool the planet,by diverting rays off the atmosphere, creating a cooling effect.Face it there are way too many variables that havent even been considered or factored into the computer models(see Dr.Roy Spencer) its basically a political movement and under a semi Gaia religion with a h**l,sinners and saints, and the God Al Gore who can do no wrong as he flies his private jet, wastes electricity at his mansion(more in a month than an average yearly household).also the polar caps have refroze, there have been no major Hurricanes(like they predicted) and the polar bear has become if anything, overpopulated in the north and they are not endangered but growing in numbers. But hey changing a light bulb forced upon me to buy that contains mercury and mercury vapor and takes a haz-mat team to clean up if i break one will make it all better right?

  6. Major problem

The government makes you think it's BS (Republicans) because they are for big business oil companies.

    It's a MAJOR problem.

  7. The planet developed in the wrong ways, the people who cared about it were never put in charge of the children's futures.  Soon I think the world will fall off of the cliff of life and into a hole of despair so large that it will never get out.  It's thanks to greed and many bad people who claim to be morally responsible.  Etc., etc., etc..

  8. major problem

  9. A theory with overwelmingly conclusive evidence.

    Skeptic argument

The cause is up for debate. There is no consensus.

    http://gristmill.grist.org/story/2006/11...

"This consensus is represented in the IPCC Third Assessment Report, Working Group 1 (TAR WG1), the most comprehensive compilation and summary of current climate research ever attempted, and arguably the most thoroughly peer reviewed scientific document in history. While this review was sponsored by the UN, the research it compiled and reviewed was not, and the scientists involved were independent and came from all over the world."

"The conclusions reached in this document have been explicitly endorsed by ..."

    Academia Brasiliera de Ciências (Bazil)

    Royal Society of Canada

    Chinese Academy of Sciences

    Academié des Sciences (France)

Deutsche Akademie der Naturforscher Leopoldina (Germany)

    Indian National Science Academy

    Accademia dei Lincei (Italy)

    Science Council of Japan

    Russian Academy of Sciences

    Royal Society (United Kingdom)

National Academy of Sciences (United States of America)

    Australian Academy of Sciences

Royal Flemish Academy of Belgium for Sciences and the Arts

    Caribbean Academy of Sciences

    Indonesian Academy of Sciences

    Royal Irish Academy

    Academy of Sciences Malaysia

Academy Council of the Royal Society of New Zealand

    Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences

"In addition to these national academies, the following institutions specializing in climate, atmosphere, ocean, and/or earth sciences have endorsed or published the same conclusions as presented in the TAR report:

NASA's Goddard Institute of Space Studies (GISS)

National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)

    National Academy of Sciences (NAS)

State of the Canadian Cryosphere (SOCC)

    Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)

Royal Society of the United Kingdom (RS)

    American Geophysical Union (AGU)

    American Institute of Physics (AIP)

National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR)

    American Meteorological Society (AMS)

Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society (CMOS)

If this is not scientific consensus, what in the world would a consensus look like?"

http://www.salon.com/news/feature/2008/0... The Cold Truth about Global Warming by Joseph Romm

"The big difference I have with the doubters is they believe the IPCC reports seriously overstate the impact of human emissions on the climate, whereas the actual observed climate data clearly show the reports dramatically understate the impact."

"One of the most serious results of the overuse of the term "consensus" in the public discussion of global warming is that it creates a simple strategy for doubters to confuse the public, the press and politicians: Simply come up with as long a list as you can of scientists who dispute the theory. After all, such disagreement is prima facie proof that no consensus of opinion exists."

"So we end up with the absurd but pointless spectacle of the leading denier in the U.S. Senate, James Inhofe, R-Okla., who recently put out a list of more than 400 names of supposedly "prominent scientists" who supposedly "recently voiced significant objections to major aspects of the so-called 'consensus' on man-made global warming."

"As it turned out, the list is both padded and laughable, containing the opinions of TV weathermen, economists, a bunch of non-prominent scientists who aren't climate experts, and, perhaps surprisingly, even a number of people who actually believe in the consensus."

"But in any case, nothing could be more irrelevant to climate science than the opinion of people on the list such as Weather Channel founder John Coleman or famed inventor Ray Kurzweil (who actually does "think global warming is real"). Or, for that matter, my opinion -- even though I researched a Ph.D. thesis at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography on physical oceanography in the Greenland Sea."

"What matters is scientific findings -- data, not opinions. The IPCC relies on the peer-reviewed scientific literature for its conclusions, which must meet the rigorous requirements of the scientific method and which are inevitably scrutinized by others seeking to disprove that work. That is why I cite and link to as much research as is possible, hundreds of studies in the case of this article. Opinions are irrelevant."

Skeptics say it is a hoax and global warming is caused by the sun. Nope! and Nope!

    http://gristmill.grist.org/story/2006/11...

Some people imagine that it is funded by the U.N. and is therefore slanted. The U.N. has nothing to do with the research, they just fund it and facilitate meetings etc. The scientists work independently. And are from all political persuasions and nations and religions.

    http://gristmill.grist.org/story/2006/12...

    http://www.realclimate.org/index.php/arc...

Actually the solar factor has been overcompensated for in their calculations and they still came with the sun only contributing 0-10% over the last 50 years or so.

  10. Critical problem that will probably mean the end of our species and many others because many people (mostly in the US) deny that it is happening.  They must not love their children.  "People, think of the children", not the coffers of the oil companies who enslave you...every part of your life.

  11. false dichotomy. it is a real problem, although not yet a major problem. there are solutions - if we wait until it is a major problem to do anything about it, it may be too late.

  12. Major Problem. Look at some of the stats and they will tell you. We're polluting the Earth at a rate that is rising shockingly high. The funny part is we can stop it, but choose to do nothing about it. People need to stop driving their Hummers and carpool, or turn off a few lights here or there. Don't buy into people who tell you it's bull. In a few years, it will be their fault that Greenland melted.

  13. huge problem!!!...

the're is already a big, gaping hale in the ozone layer, if it gets any worse, than the polar ice caps will melt, and we will all drown!

  14. Global warming is the increase in the average temperature of the Earth's near-surface air and oceans in recent decades and its projected continuation.

The global average air temperature near the Earth's surface rose 0.74 ± 0.18 °C (1.33 ± 0.32 °F) during the hundred years ending in 2005.[1] The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) concludes "most of the observed increase in globally averaged temperatures since the mid-twentieth century is very likely due to the observed increase in anthropogenic greenhouse gas concentrations"[1] via the greenhouse effect. Natural phenomena such as solar variation combined with volcanoes probably had a small warming effect from pre-industrial times to 1950 and a small cooling effect from 1950 onward.[2][3] These basic conclusions have been endorsed by at least thirty scientific societies and academies of science,[4] including all of the national academies of science of the major industrialized countries.[5][6][7] While individual scientists have voiced disagreement with some findings of the IPCC,[8] the overwhelming majority of scientists working on climate change agree with the IPCC's main conclusions.[9][10]

Climate model projections summarized by the IPCC indicate that average global surface temperature will likely rise a further 1.1 to 6.4 °C (2.0 to 11.5 °F) during the twenty-first century.[1] The range of values results from the use of differing scenarios of future greenhouse gas emissions as well as models with differing climate sensitivity. Although most studies focus on the period up to 2100, warming and sea level rise are expected to continue for more than a thousand years even if greenhouse gas levels are stabilized. The delay in reaching equilibrium is a result of the large heat capacity of the oceans.[1]

Increasing global temperature will cause sea level to rise, and is expected to increase the intensity of extreme weather events and to change the amount and pattern of precipitation. Other effects of global warming include changes in agricultural yields, trade routes, glacier retreat, species extinctions and increases in the ranges of disease vectors.

Remaining scientific uncertainties include the amount of warming expected in the future, and how warming and related changes will vary from region to region around the globe. Most national governments have signed and ratified the Kyoto Protocol aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions, but there is ongoing political and public debate worldwide regarding what, if any, action should be taken to reduce or reverse future warming or to adapt to its expected CONSENQUENCES

  15. possible global cooling, major problem

  16. a little of both --  it's partially over-exaggerated for media attention, etc. but the enviornment and just keeping the planet livable is a major problem.

  17. bullshit

dont forget to give me thumbs up and best answer

  18. It's a major problem. Whether or not you blame hydrocarbon emissions from cars and power plants, the fact is the average temperature of our planet is increasing at a fairly steady rate.

This has nasty consequences in terms of changing weather patterns. Drought may occur regularly in a once fertile agricultural area, and horrible floods may occur where this was not a problem. Intensity of hurricanes and typhoons have been increasing on average as well.

Is this a natural part of our planet's cycle? Yes. There have been periods of increased warming  as noted in geologic record. Has warming increased this rapidly in past geologic record? No. It would be likely to conclude that humans have a hand in this problem.

I would say that this is not BS.

  19. Some might say natural climate fluctuation. It is but natural for the earth to undergo climate fluctuations. Ice Age came in...but at a very slow pace, say like a shift that may have taken thousands of years. But the glaciers melting at a speed of 15 kilometers annually. Ice age came at a speed of a snail, the global warming is a runaway train by comparison. I think that's phenomenal indeed...but not natural

  20. MAJOR PROBLEM!!!!! tons of animals are dying, the weather is going mental, the ozone layer is dissapearing!!!! i repeat: MAJOR PROBLEM!!!!!

  21. BS and you expect people too stop driving cars or use electricity why would we do that too ourself too stop the ineviteable the sun has always been getting closer too the earth since the beginning of time the human race will survive for millions or possibly billions of years

  22. major problem, I realized this with An Inconvenient Truth that vice president Al Gore did.
