Question:

Global Warming Raw Data?

I'm in a statistics class and need to find a decent amount of raw data and do a trend analysis. I'd like the data to be simple, so I figured I'd take a look at temperatures over the course of the last few decades.

I figured it would be easy as pie to find since it's such a hot topic... but I can't find any! Am I not looking in the right places?

I'm just looking for something that says "year" and "temperature"... something that I can clearly say... yep this is showing a warming trend.

Does anyone have a link to such raw data handy? I find it perplexing that I can't find such data, especially after seeing (and being alarmed by) An Inconvenient Truth. The data Gore cited has got to be out there, I just can't find it!

  2. Easy, dude. Here ya go:

    Here's the HadCRUT3 data series:

Here's the data from NASA GISS:

Here's the data from the National Climate Data Center:

That should be more temperature data than you can handle. But just in case, here are some links to some other data you might find useful:

    HadISST1 (sea ice):

    Mona Loa CO2 data:

Knock yourself out. And please, try not to have *too* much fun, you might blow a joy circuit.

  3. You might also try 'surfacestations.org'.  The gentleman heading up that site...... Anthony Watts...... may have sources available for your project.

  4. Good luck...they don't want you to see that data ;)

    Its a crock...

  5. It is out there.  You're right, you just haven't been looking in the right places.

I recommend you try the Hadley Center for Atmospheric Research; they have plenty of raw data and numerous computer "algor(e)"ithms to process it.   ;-) *lol*

A link to their observations datasets is given below.

You might also want to try the National  Center for Atmospheric Research. (2nd link)

  6. You could demonstrate a warming trend over the last 100 years, but what you won't find is any relationship between the rate of warming and the concentration of CO2 or a relationship between the rate of warming and the rate of production of CO2.

Warming was fairly rapid 1910 to 1950 when CO2 levels and rate of production was low.  From 1998 to 2008 there has been cooling even though CO2 concentrations and rate of production of CO2 is at an all time high.

The statistical data available tends to indicate that warming is not related to atmospheric CO2.

  7. you cant find the data because there isnt any. the whole thing is a scam. tell your teaching.

    check my sources for info
