  1. global warming is true. i live in the uk and it's snowing in april i remember when it used to snow in december (when it's supposed to) all seasons are out of sync we seem to get spring before winter nowadays

  2. False!!

If we can't explain it, it must be Human Induce

The fact is, science doesn't understand why these natural climate variations occur, and can not reliably distinguish between natural and possible human influences on global temperatures. So, if scientists have no other natural explanation for a warming trend, they tend to assume that it is manmade.

For instance, you might have heard claims to the effect that no peer-reviewed scientific study has refuted the claim that global warming is manmade. Well, there have indeed been some papers that have at least questioned the theory that our current warmth is manmade....but the publishing of alternative explanations is hindered by the fact that our long-term global climate observations (e.g. of cloud characteristics) are not good enough to measure the small changes that might offer an alternative explanation for our current warmth.

Science can not deal with what we can not measure. But scientists could at least admit to incomplete knowledge -- unfortunately, most of them do not.

I can not overemphasize this -- the theory that our current warmth is manmade is largely the result of not having good enough global observations over a long enough period of time to rule out natural causes. Therefore, the current widespread support for the theory of manmade global warming is NOT because the alternative explanations have been ruled out. It is because our poor understanding of natural climate variability does not yet permit alternative explanations to be investigated thoroughly.

Thus, while it is indeed possible to explain much of the warming over the last 100 years with manmade greenhouse gas increases, this is only one possible explanation -- one that necessarily ignores or minimizes any natural sources of temperature variability.

As a result, our worries that global warming is manmade are directly related to how much faith we have that natural climate variations (for instance, a small decrease in low-level cloudiness) are not substantially contributing to our current warmth. Some scientists who believe in manmade global warming have asked me, "But what else could be causing the warmth?" Note that this is arguing, not from the evidence, but from a lack of evidence.

There is an old saying, "When all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail." Well, manmade global warming is our hammer, and so every change (nail) we see in the climate system gets attributed to mankind.

  3. Global warming, yes!  AGW (man-made) is false.  These so-called climatologists are complaining over a 0.6 degree rise over the last 150 years and stating it has never happened before.  This cannot be found on the internet anymore, but it was published in their magazine.  So history can't be rewritten like so many times before, because this was published.  Bring on the "that is old information" complaints. The fact is that the alarmists are trying to erase any history of studies or stats that don't go with their beliefs.  Go to your local library and see if you can dig this up.  I can almost guarantee it has been removed.

    Chaotic Climate

    Wallace S. Broecker

Scientific American, November 1995, pp. 62-68

"Ice cores from Greenland indicate swings in average temperature of as much as 10° C in a single decade. Flow of heat through the Atlantic Ocean may play a major role in such rapid changes, and the consequences could be very serious."

    or

    Rapic Climate Change

    Kendrick Taylor

    American Scientist, July-August 1999, pp. 320-327

"Earth's climate can change very rapidly, in as little time as a decade. Rapid change is likely if the rate of exchange of heat and mass between land, ocean, atmosphere, ice sheets, and space exceeds certain thresholds."

Yes, these articles are a little older.  But these are quick examples of how these people flip-flopped because money came into play.  They now support the global warming theories.  They will claim "because it is true", but it is because money came into play.

  4. True or False? Yes.

Climatologists are correct, the earth is warming. This is a short-term trend, perhaps a few hundred years at most.

Geologists are correct, the earth is cooling. This is a long-term trend, perhaps 10,000 years.

The dispute is not about whether the earth is warming or cooling - it is doing both - but about whether the current warming trend is caused by man and, if it is, how to fix it.

We do not have a clue about whether the current trend is related to CO2 levels in the atmosphere. There are certainly billions, and probably trillions, of elements affecting the global climate. Focusing on just one of them is symptomatic of a lack of intellectual maturation. These folks might be right - I'd first like them to explain the interactions among the elements and then further explain why man-emitted CO2 is the culprit.

The preferred "fix" for the problem - the Kyoto Protocols - is not about reducing global warming. The drafters stated openly that it is primarily a means of transferring wealth from western industrialized countries to other countries. The "cap and trade" scheme will not affect global warming, but it might bankrupt western democracies, something that most countries in the world would like to see.

  5. You can't deny the fact that our world is heating up, you just can't. You can't deny glaciers are melting, that food is starting to become limited, droughts and flooding are occurring more often, or that species' habitats are being destructed.

But I guess I do believe it. They have to have names for everything, right? :P

  6. I am of the opinion that global warming with the aim of carbon tax or "tax for being alive" tax is resultant of powerful men using stealthy media and hype to culture easily beguiled folk into taxing themselves and future generations, I'm here to ask who gets the money? will it benefit my planet ans. No. use the intelligence of humanity to see there is no man made global  influence except nuclear pollution, yikes!

  7. False, it's a new religion for some, for the socialists it's just a new way to control, levy new taxes and socially engineer  the population

  8. Global warming through accumulation of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere was predicted around a hundred years ago by Svante Arrhenius, who was a very well known chemist at the time.

In 1976 I began a job analysing gases and air for the coal industry,  It was soon apparent that the average amount of CO2 in the air was higher than my reference books said.  I measured 320ppm over three days late in 1976.

The reference books I had, most of which had been printed in the mid to late 1960s said 300ppm.  Over the next several years it continued to increase and during the 1980s I measured 345ppm, again averaged over a few days.  At one point I got 360ppm over a few days.

Thinking that there was possibly something wrong with my measurements I called the Baseline Monitoring Station at Cape Grim in Tasmania.  They told me I was almost certainly correct.  At the time they said  that global CO2 concentrations were increasing by a bit more than 1ppm per year on average.  That was then.  The Chinese and other less developed countries had not started building power stations in a big way then.

It was then I realised that some of the media reports about the possibility of global warming were not nonsense.  Remember, that was in the 1980s.

It is now nearly 20 years later.  Global CO2 now exceeds 380ppm.

There is a perfectly understood mechanism for retention of solar heat by CO2.  There isn't any guesswork about it, it isn't a speculation, it is a fact of physics.  Politics and economics don't come into it, it exists whether the local government is a monarchy or a republic, capitalist or state socialist.

You will get a lot of guff about Al Gore.  Some people seem to think he invented the idea.  Fact is that the idea has been round since before Al's Dad was a glint in his Dad's eye and scientists were getting worried about it before Al ran for president.

Now it's possible that some scientists might disagree on some of the feedback mechanisms involved - more clouds, the influence of atmospheric water content, various other uncertainties. They cannot dispute -

    (1)  The increase of CO2 in the atmosphere.

    (2)  The fact that CO2 is a good absorber of long wavelength infra-red radiation.

    (3)  That temperature measurements taken over the past several decades, some of which are now done by satellite show global increases in temperature

    (4)  That these increases in temperature have continued despite the regular recent cyclical downturn in the energy  production by the Sun.

The only people who dispute these thing are the mouthpieces of big business politics.  As usual, big business and big politics lie when it suits them.

  9. Of course Global warming is an issue but it's debatable what man can do about it. The Earth has been going through warming up and cooling down periods for millions of years. Long before man appeared. If man is to blame for all this global warming then perhaps someone can explain to me just who was to blame for the last ice age and the subsequent warming up when the ice age ended. This government in particular has seen an ideal way to cash in on this issue by brainwashing the public and putting taxes on everything they can think of. As we are now going through a warming up period, rest assured that there will also be another cooling down period long after we are gone.

  10. True, and I say that because the overwhelming majority of scientists in the field of study support the theory. From the National Academy of Science...

    http://dels.nas.edu/dels/rpt_briefs/clim...

    American Geophysical Union...

    American Institute of Physics...

You will find about half the people on here state that the earth has been warming and cooling naturally for millions of years, and that is true, but the earth has never had 6.5 billion people on it. And, they don't seem to understand that just because the earth's climate system acted a certain way before, it doesn't mean it has to happen the same way again. We are the wild-card. Blaming it all on Mother Nature is a convenient way of not taking responsibility.

  11. its not an idea, its an observable event.

    why?

i understand the simple physics of the greenhouse effect.

i have been following the research for 20 years.

i have been seeing the change in my own garden

i know the difference between weather and climate.

i know how big the sea is, and how much energy it would take to raise it's surface temperature even a fraction of a degree.

  12. well i don't actually have a clue myself, as everything we know about things like this is what we are told or hear kinda thing,

there was a programme on telly a few months back saying global warming is false (and the world getting hotter nothing to do with humans polluting the world) apparently they had scientific evidence that the planet goes in cycles (over thousands of years) of getting extremely hot, then extremely cold, and its apparently always happened, hey who knows, we just know what we're told don't we, and how the h**l do they know that, we they alive a thousand years ago? umm.

  13. false because it is april and i have had snow... that isnt warmer... thats colder! someone should tell these scientists they have been holding their thermometer upside down!

  14. Man-made global warming IS man-made...it's a work of fiction.  Ignore the media, listen to the scientists.  They're still in the discovery phase of their work.  They are surprised on an almost daily basis by their findings...because they do not have a solid grasp on all of the variables at work on our climate.

  15. wow ur not gonna find that answer from a bunch of idiots on yahoo answers. having said that, global warming is bs, the earth has warm and cold cycles, search google for earths historical temperatures and u will see we are at the tip of a 500 year warm cycle.

  16. true.......we are experancing changes

  17. It is a scam if u don't believe . Measure the amount of CO2. It has not increased as much as the environmentalist say. They give the plants no credit for the CO2 they have recycled.

  18. Of course it is true(!!!!????). What do you think Nobel committee - are stupid bunch?

    Ha-Ha-Ha

  19. no because its snowing where i am, and its april.

  20. False...Global warming is one-half of the climatic cycle of warming and cooling.

The earth's mean temperature cycles around the freezing point of water.

This is a completely natural phenomenon which has been going on since there has been water on this planet. It is driven by the sun.

Our planet is currently emerging from a 'mini ice age', so is

becoming warmer and may return to the point at which Greenland is again usable as farmland (as it has been in recorded history).

As the polar ice caps decrease, the amount of fresh water mixing with oceanic water will slow and perhaps stop the thermohaline cycle (the oceanic heat 'conveyor' which, among other things, keeps the U.S. east coast warm).

When this cycle slows/stops, the planet will cool again and begin to enter another ice age.

It's been happening for millions of years.

The worrisome and brutal predictions of drastic climate effects are based on computer models, NOT CLIMATE HISTORY.

As you probably know, computer models are not the most reliable of sources, especially when used to 'predict' chaotic systems such as weather.

    Global warming/cooling, AKA 'climate change':

    Humans did not cause it.

    Humans cannot stop it.

  21. true, the guy that said that it is snowing in april is a result in global warming, it will make the weather really hot and also really cold, there is proof of shrinking glaciers, so it is true that the earth is warming, global warming is already here, and we have to prevent it at once, it will cause many places such as europe to get colder, and it will cause many other places to get warmer, you will see more droughts and torrential rains, destroying crops, and there is also proof of CO2 levels rising in the past hundred years

  22. True. In fact, the world is hotter during the summer and more cold during winter. You can get more information if you search on google.ca

  23. if the government told you the world will be fine for 100 years but to make it better we need to buy this . . . you wouldnt be bothered . . . but if the government said the world is going to be too hot all the ice caps will melt BUT if you  buy this we should be ok . . . it would make you want to buy it much more . . . its just another lie

  24. Nothing new !? It has been going on in cycles for a long , long time...plenty of evidence for that !!! So, it is merely a theory that some people think is new....for the environmentalists to beat into people....it is hype, truly !  |(and a moneymaker for some of the major capitalists !)

  25. Fairy tale to get more grant money,  Like manbearpig.

  26. False.Even with modern developement they can't even get the

weather right for next week. When the Earth heated up ending

the ice age.Was it because the Neanderthals we're driving their

children to school before working in their factory's.Or we're the

Romans responsible for climate change.Burning up the A1 to

Hadrians Wall to pick their grapes to make their wine.A minority

have been given a voice with government say so to detract from

facts. The same has the pc brigade have been given a voice to detract from facts. The history of Earth is recent. There

is a lot to learn yet, before anyone can start predicting future

climate change. The Ozone hole is actually closing.Without

    any help from us.Scientific fact.

  27. True. Our planet cannot evolve fast enough to keep up with human activity. The Earth has never before experienced a total domination and use by a single species. Obviously, it will take some sort of effect. Whether or not we are entering climate changes that have occured regularly throughout our planet's history, our actions are taking their toll. As greenhouse gases get trapped in the atmosphere and melt ice caps and block the sun's rays, things will get colder in some places and hotter in others... It may take a century for things to get extreme, but it's happening right now. Already, global weather is increasingly intense and out of season. Look at the facts! It's not a theory, it's a reality.

  28. Yes,

    It is indeed 'real'.

The reason is because some of the world isn't thinking about what they are doing.

All the gas and chemicals going in the air is harming our Earth badly. People just say it isn't true because they don't care. I hope i helped you some. There is lots of websites to look at if you need more info.

    Proof-   http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/...

  29. Fact, the planet we inhabit warms up from time to time and this has been happening for as long as it has been around. Now we have the doom brigade telling us the end is Nye and an unscrupulous Government jumping on the band waggon putting taxes on things willy nilly, in the name of Global warming. So for me false! There are people who still believe the world is flat and that was once a popular myth.

  30. True.

And just like evans_michael said "listen to the scientists". But rather than pretend scientists or scientists speculating far outside of their own area of expertise, make sure it's real legitimate climate scientist who are actively performing research in the field (being a TV Weathermen doesn't count).
