Global Warming a Myth created by Al Gore?

I respectfully disagree with fireball266. If, as I believe, global warming is real, it will take a collective effort to address. The more we understand opposiing views, the better chance we have to either eliminate the worry or address the problem.

  1. There is a bill of 900 scientists that are going to sue Al Gore for the scam.  The inventor of the weather channel is in on it too. And the reason that the vast majority of scientists support global warming is because they are getting payed millions of dollars to "study" global warming.

And twenty years ago I was getting told that I am going to starve or freeze to death.

Now they say we are all obese and are going to burn up.

    Its BS.

  2. I think Al Gore has done a great job...a great job at pulling the wool over our eyes.  In 2000, his net  worth was estimated at $1million. Now it is approaching $100million, a 10,000% increase in about 8 years.

People are quick to point to the meling polar ice caps as proof of human-caused global warming. They ignore the fact that the polar ice caps of Mars is melting as well. But I guess my SUV could be causing that too.

I believe in global warming, just not human-caused global warming.

I'm all about being my energy efficient, recycling, earth-friendly, whatever you want to call it.  I just can't stand people putting Gore up on a pedestal.

  3. I don't think **** is happenning.

I heard on Rush Limbaugh that the Atlantic ocean temp. was LOWER this year.

And these "glaciers melting"... hate to say it, but it happened before cars were invented... remember, the SUN can be HOT certain times of year.

I don't doubt the fact that we may be warming up a little here and there, but I don't think its on a GLOBAL scale, and I do not believe it is what some Democrats put it out to be.

And on a more personal side... California had a REALLY rainy year last year, and so far; this has been THE coolest summer I've been in.

Living in the OC, I'd expect near 100's

but we've been having almost 70-80 everyday now.

I think that there is MORE evidence AGAINST global warming, than to PROVE it....

plus, from what my Chemistry Teacher has told me, he says its nearly 90% theory

  4. Global warming should be evident by now........Just in case the rain above your  knees does not convince you.  Read up on the medeival ice age especially look at  Maunder's Minimum.  There have been some intruiging and reformulated studies by professor Soon but his basis completely "undermine" and rule out global warming.  Regardless we are heading for more trouble ahead.  And greenhouse gases are an accelorator to the mess.

  5. Al Gore did not invent Global Warming, the Earth did that without our help.

Al Gore invented Man-made Global Warming to line his pockets and become a very rich man.

He is trying to scare people into giving up what little luxury they have in the world, so that he can go home to his Energy wasting mansion in Tennessee.

  6. First off, just like their claim that Al Gore stated that he created the internet, the claim that Al Gore created the Global Warming "myth" is just more right wing c**p. Global Warming is a fact, Al Gore is just pointing out the problems, just as he signed legislation that led to the creation of the first true internet.

Now there will be those who are so ignorant that they will say anything to deny the truth about Global Warming, like "It rained more here then usual or that it was colder then usual so Global Warming must be a lie". What these morons don't realize is that weather is affected by numerous things, from wind change to water temp change to ocean stream direction change. But they don't let the facts get in their way, they just repeat everything they hear from their masters. I hope they wake up before it's too late.

  7. its really happening....who cares what politicians think?

    the glaciers are melting....

  8. I share your confusion about why the Republican Party would adopt an unintelligent position.  I question the judgement of any party that ignores science and adopts questionable policies as a result.

There are signs of progress though.  Even Bush has acknowledged that global warming exists and it's a serious problem.  Apparently he dosn't want to go down in history as a complete nitwit.  He even has the sense to insist that China and India MUST participate in any solution for it to have any remote chance at success, a position which is far more intelligent than what most world leaders seem to hold.

But where does that leave conservatives who blindly followed the Rebublican denial rhetoric for the past 20 years?  On which other serious issues are the Rebublican leaders misleading us, and for what purpose, simply to line their own pockets?  I'd like to see people who spread deliberate misinformation charged with fraud and/or treason.

The outcome may be a dangerous shift towards the left which could bankrupt the country right when we most need funds to fight the challenges facing us (banking crisis, war debt, trade imbalance, escalating oil and food costs, etc).  The scariest part is that the excesses of the past 8 years, even just the Iraq war alone, make the Democrats look like fiscal conservatives!  We need a third party.

  9. Here is an interesting situation, you are probably a reasonably intelligent individual, and you believe in AGW-fine, at least you put it in the correct category, that of a belief system...you also, equate it with a political belief, which I agree with you, it is in fact a political belief system, based upon observation, not scientific studies, and promulgated by politicians, anti-human environmental groups, and those who believe that virtually everything wrong with out world has to do with too many people...you are free to subscribe to this faith based belief system, but do not confuse your particular belief with 'TRUTH', which of course is not defined by what you believe, but what actually is correct.  Is the Climate changing?  Of course, it changes on a regular basis.  Is it getting warmer?  Quite possibly.  Is this change caused by human activity?  Unknown, there are not any studies, no scientific models to confirm or deny this.  Is this bad for the earth?  No, the earth will survive, there is significant information to suggest this has occurred in the not too distant past, and it will likely happen again.  Will some animals and plants die off?  Yes, however, when you consider that less than 1% of the animals and plants in the fossil record are currently extant, or another way to say this is that 99 % of the plants and animal species which have ever lived on this earth are extinct, this is not a significant problem...Do we need to change our living habits, such as using fewer fossil fuels, and developing new forms of energy?  Of course, it only makes sense, however, to be forced into it by scare mongers who want to tax us into oblivion, well that is ridiculous...if you wish to believe in AGW, be my guest, but do not confuse it with proven fact...good question...

  10. to understand global warming, you have to understand the science behind it. do you? i dont. i know what the UN global warming scientists say, that man caused it and we need to do something now or we will never fix the problem. this is the consensus of about 2500 scientists. the problem is that they have an agenda to help push forward, and that is UN control of the world. there is a consensus of over 31,000 scientists that say either global warming is not real, or is real and a natural cycle.

the reality is closer to global warming is real, but is a natural cycle and there is nothing man can do about it. how did i come to this conclusion? simple, i looked at the geological record. in the last 4.5 billion years, this planet has been through everything, meteor and comet strikes, another planet hitting us, thus creating the moon. in the early years of the moon we had tidal forces that are currently unimaginable. picture the earth with tidal waves of lava rather than water. picture the crust of the earth caught in a tidal force beyond comprehension, much like a couple of jupiters moons.

picture this earth being encased in ice 11ft thick at the equator for 100 million years because of global cooling.

when you look at the geological record, you will find that the earth has been much warmer in the past, long before man was around.

what affects the global temperature? to start with the sun does. when it becomes more active it becomes hotter, and that heat is transmitted to the earth. also as our star ages it also gets hotter. our star is hotter now than it was 65 million years ago, and yet the global temperatures are lower than they were then. how do you explain that? another thing to ponder, just before the earths poles shift, the planet warms up. the last time the poles shifted was almost 26,000 years ago, and it happens about every 26,000 years. guess we are due for a pole shift arent we?

i am not questioning global warming, better called global climate change, i am however questioning mans affect on it. the AGW crowd would have you believe that man has this huge long term effect on the planet, and that we need to stop what we are doing to correct it. i however believe that man is a minor player, and has a small effect on the planet, and generally in the short term at best.

  11. Do you really expect the governments around the world to endorse anything that could cost them money?  Cutting emmisions means cutting profits.  Of course it's really happening.  Some reasons why it's happening very well could be natural, but there is no doubt that we are contributing to it.

  12. Global warming and global cooling are just climate conditions that are completely natural.  They've been going on for millions of years.

Most scientists no longer believe humans are the cause of this warming or cooling.  That's where the myth or hoax comes from.

Al Gore didn't create the myth, just propogated it and made a fortune doing so.  He still can't convince everyone.  His movie was proven to be mostly fake and he's planning on spending another $30million on ads.  Seems to me that if it were true he wouldn't need to push it so hard.

It's good to be skeptical about issues like these since the solutions involve trillions of dollars from your pockets and with any unproven theory, most people don't like paying for hoaxes.

People who don't fall into lock-step with the man-made global warming theory are not necessarily Republican, they just tend to be intelligent and informed people who don't fall for hoaxes as easily as many do.

Here are some links.  Read up on the subject.  Maybe you'll become more open-minded and learn a few things about the earth at the same time.

  13. Al Gore sat down one day and realized he has no legacy. In desperation, he decided that being remembered for ANYTHING (even if it destroyed the economy) would be better than no legacy at all.

  14. I do not believe the question the premise that global warming is happening (although they did in the beginning). I believe their assertion is that the amount of CO2 and other greenhouse gasses released into the atmosphere by man is not enough to raise the temperature of the earth. Only the sun and or naturally released green house gasses are responsible. Depending on who you talk to. There are many scientists who support this assertion however many are funded by large corporations with interests in not curbing CO2 emissions. Their assertion is that no matter what we do the earth will warm and cool as it has done since its inception (it has) so why would they want to do anything about it. They believe or want to believe it is natural.

  15. AGW and its promotion were not invented by Al Gore despite dome claims to that effect. He was selected by the leadership of an anti technology organization to be their spokes person because he is related to several of the concerned families. The organization is called The Club of Rome and is funded by the richest and most powerful people in the world. They firmly believe that every source of material for all purposes has been located and is now being used and that there will never be any further resources available to the human race ever until the end of the universe.

They published this concept in a book called Limits to Growth in the mid 1970s and this is the underlying documentation that all the rest of their house of cards is built on. This has become a new religion of sorts that says all consumption must be reduced to preserve what is left for future generations. This philosophy is similar to and might be derived from one call Luddites that flourished in the mid 1800s amongst those that feared technological innovation and life style improvements.

Those of us why deny the assertions of the AGW promoters know for a fact that a few hundred miles over our heads exists more resources than the human race and several more can consume in several million years. Ludditeisim is a fear of what is new and an attempt by a group of very powerful people to restrain and hold back the advance of science and technology to a level they can understand and control. The AGW people because they do not comprehend technology and new things act out of fear to try and return to what they see as a more comfortable past they can deal with mentally.

The leaders of every stage of exploration and development of new things has always had to deal with those who fear the new and unknown, it is the same to today, the deniers look to science and technology to light the way into a more prosperous future for all. The AGW promoters want a return to the lean, cold and deprived days of years gone past generations ago. They long for the Middle Ages when they lived in their comfortable castles and the rest of us were their servants living in mud huts.

  16. Look at it this way,  the more your side tries to shove this junk science down our throat, the harder we will fit back.

Plant a tree, we will cut a forest.

Ride a bike, we will sit and let the SUV run in the drive way.

Lie to the kids in school, we will inform them of the truth.

For every step you take forward, with a gun in our back, we will drag you backwards kicking and screaming every inch of the way.

No.  We do not believe it,  We do not care how many UN Scientist say its true, they all can jump up and down till they drop dead, we don't give a flip.

If you want to sit in a cave shivering in the cold dark, go for it, but leave us alone.  Its that simple.  No we will not work with you.  And by the way, there a heck of a lot more of us, than there are of you.

  17. Glaciers are also growing. I believe global warming is a myth because, in my opinion, the data isn't credible enough. I can see how the recent data (I'd say 1960 and beyond) could be taken as accurate. However, prior to that, we have little recorded data beyond what people took from their thermometer on their porch. The computer models are inaccurate, becuase they are notorious for overduing temperatures. The earth has and is changing, and we can't stop it, nor should we try. Our race has survived in the past and will continue to do so. I do believe that limiting pollution will help keep people healthy, since poor air quality kills my asthma.
