i got speech and i can't sit on fence, so i have to present one sided, i want to do the scientific natural view, because that is how i see global warming now, i used to view with agw cause the media was all about that but i researched about it and seen the cons about inconvenient truth and all.. i just would like to have some paragraphs of ideas, of how i would be able to prove or present ideas of a resolution on the scientic side, which is supporting that GW is natural, and co2 has nothing to do with it at all... thanks help is greatly appreciated!! :)

  1. All of Earths warming is caused by the Sun.  Co2 makes do impact towards warming.  In fact warming causes co2 it increase.

"Habibullo Abdusamatov, head of the space research laboratory at the St. Petersburg-based Pulkovo Observatory, said global warming stems from an increase in the sun's activity.

"Global warming results not from the emission of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, but from an unusually high level of solar radiation and a lengthy - almost throughout the last century - growth in its intensity,"

"Instead of professed global warming, the Earth will be facing a slow decrease in temperatures in 2012-2015. The gradually falling amounts of solar energy, expected to reach their bottom level by 2040, will inevitably lead to a deep freeze around 2055-2060," he said, adding that this period of global freeze will last some 50 years, after which the temperatures will go up again. "

  3. The answer is both.  It was driven by natural factors until the industrial revolution.  Now, human activity releasing CO2 into the atmosphere has made humans the largest contributing factor to climate change.  He is a source that sums is up nicely,  you can quote it and it has great graphics, and it is highly reputable - not extremist in any sense of the word (The National Academies of Sciences).   It is a free pdf - it takes a minute to open.  It has everything you need.

I encourage you to look carefully at the sources.  See what there missions are and if they are sponsored by anybody.  What are the requirements to get in the organizations?  Do they people that provide the information publish in peer reviewed journals  (pick a few names and do a library search if you have access)?

  5. Climate change is a money and power grab scheme by the bottom feeder politicians and power brokers. It's nothing to do with ecology and everything to do with money.

Con artist and politicians (here unnamed, but you may call him "Mr. Environment") have enriched themselves on this issue, taking home Oscars, Nobel Prizes and millions of dollars. Meanwhile, evangelical leaders are setting up their flocks for extreme fleecing by leftist politicos who will speak with great charm in the appeal for Christian votes by talking in glowing, biblical-sounding terms about "being good stewards of God's creation."

Here is truth about global warming:

Global warming is one-half of the climatic cycle of warming and cooling.

The earth's mean temperature cycles around the freezing point of water.

This is a completely natural phenomenon which has been going on since there has been water on this planet. It is driven by the sun.

Our planet is currently emerging from a 'mini ice age', so is

becoming warmer and may return to the point at which Greenland is again usable as farmland (as it has been in recorded history).

As the polar ice caps decrease, the amount of fresh water mixing with oceanic water will slow and perhaps stop the thermohaline cycle (the oceanic heat 'conveyor' which, among other things, keeps the U.S. east coast warm).

When this cycle slows/stops, the planet will cool again and begin to enter another ice age.

It's been happening for millions of years.

The worrisome and brutal predictions of drastic climate effects are based on computer models, NOT CLIMATE HISTORY.

As you probably know, computer models are not the most reliable of sources, especially when used to 'predict' chaotic systems such as weather.

    Global warming/cooling, AKA 'climate change':

    Humans did not cause it.

    Humans cannot stop it.

  6. What kind of class is that???   I hope it's a speech or English class.  If it's a science class you have a very bad science teacher.  Someone who says take one side or the other is more misguided than the doubters on YA.

If you go to the the "It's not our fault" websites, you will find dated information -- some of it is as much as 10 years old.  You'll also find other data that does not hold up to peer review, such as the Medieval Warm Period, based on 18 points of measure and with no statistical confidence intervals (just bad).

If you want to do a "hey look" speech that is based on science and you don't feel qualified to take on the knowlegable world, go to the IPCC 2007 report and read about the natural component.  Its a very small fraction of the total.  You could do a survey of the dissenters data, without trying to defend it, and note that these are the reasons that the IPCC is says only its "very likely" that mankind is causing most of the warming -- with all their data their consensus was still that there is some doubt, though less than 10%.  Treat is as an educational speech.  Although if its a speech or English assignment specifically to be a pursuasive speech, you'll have to build in what you are trying to pursuade.  It can be "keep you mind open", or "educate yourself".  If you take a hardline "its not our fault" approach you could end up looking silly, but it you structure the speech as you been taught you might still score high on the assignment.

But really, that's a poorly designed assigment.  If it were me, I would probably turn it around, surprise everyone and make it a speech about why it was a bad assigment.  Scientists do not work in a black/white "I know it all" way.  Its all about learning more, testing, and probability.
