So the GM closed their production plant. because of their gas gazzling SUV'S and cars. eco friendly people are against people whose job are not eco friendly. but there are so many jobs that are not eco friendly to the environment. So many bussiness will go bankrupt and more people will be unemployed because people are not patronizing anymore of their products that destroys the environment and the soaring gas prices. more people in the transportation cannot afford to buy gas and they lose their jobs too.

  1. I think GM closed to relocate to Mexico.  I blame corporate greed on that one.  But you're right about price gouging leading to people losing their jobs and businesses.  It's sad and something has to be done about price gouging and keeping oil in reserves and prices high.

  2. I'm certainly not against jobs.  What you're talking about isn't global climate change, it's outsourcing American jobs to nations with cheaper labor so companies can increase their profit margin.  It's not projecting ahead to a scenario that was expected to come to pass, but promoting smaller, more fuel-efficient vehicles.  And letting companies like Toyota and Honda step up and fill that niche because they deal with the European market, too.  Did you know the fastest growing market for automakers now is the Chinese?  Only most of our cars don't meet their more stringent standards, so we're losing out on a fair portion of that lucrative market straight away.

You can't blame this one on global warming.  I might be wincing at the pump right now, but the SUV in front of me the other day paid a lot more money, for less gas.  When people are shelling out their hard-earned money more and more to fill the tank, they are going to reevaluate the milage on the vehicle they drive.  Note that auto manufacturers are resorting to giving away free gas when you purchase an SUV.

There was a shift in the market in the U.S. in the mid seventies toward more fuel efficient cars.  The crisis went away, memories were short, the companies started pushing SUV's and a lot of people said yes. So again, all about the market and human nature, not global warming.

So the answer to your "question" is no.  It's not linked to unemployment.  New jobs are expected to be created as alternative energy sources are promoted.  Hopefully there will be some retraining for those displaced by the ever-shifting workforce.

  3. The liberals are directly responsible for the harm they are causing to the working people.  Every cause they champion makes life harder for working people.  Drives up our cost and limits our choices.  They openly celebrate every bit of suffering they impose.

When has a liberal ever apologized for the harm they cause.  Food to fuel, for example.

When will people stop listening to their silly rants?

  4. The current price of gas is not in any way directly tied to global warming. So your entire premise seems misguided.

Gas prices have shot up in the past, before any significant concern about global warming.  The GM plant closings can easily be offset by an increase in the production of automobiles getting 50 mpg and more.

  5. The 'Greenies' are responsible for much of what we're feeling at the gas pumps.  They have made it almost impossible to build more refineries and with sleezy tactics like putting polar bears on the 'at-risk' list, have placed yet another hurdle in front of our ability to tap energy resources in our own country.

  6. More like Energy crunch. Oil company's intentionally created a shortage of refined oil, speculators intentionally cause the price of crude to sky rocket..

People just cant afford those automobiles anymore.

  7. i think we all need a plan of action to control the ever incresing product prices, more people are now loosing jobs."what are you doing today to combat all these disasters which are a result of mismanagement of the environment?"link to http://greenearthed.blogspot.com/.rememb... we are all affected and the ball lies in our hands
