Global Warming to mars?

Since were messing up this planet with our greenhouse gases i was wondering if we could make mars a warm planet by releasing the green house gases that we have here on earth on mars which would heat mars up and make plant life possible, which would provide us with air to breath and turn ice into water which we could bring , is this reasonable

  1. www.nasa.com you can ask there.  great website.

  2. sounds fine to me if you believe that global warming mumbo jumbo.

  3. Mars is much farther from the Sun than the Earth is so it would need a MUCH stronger greenhouse effect than Earth to make it as warm as Earth. Right now Mars has a very thin atmosphere that is made up almost 100% of the greenhouse gas CO2. The same greenhouse gas that makes up 0.038% of Earth's atmosphere and is a concern because it is up from 0.028% a couple hunderd years ago. So you see, it would be REALLY hard to make Mars as warm as Earth.

  4. What you suggest is called 'terraforming,' and could be accomplished on Mars, although right now we don't have the technology to do it. However, even with an atmosphere on Mars better suited to humans we'd still be faced with the problem of maintaining that atmosphere. Because of Mars's relatively low surface gravity any atmosphere would tend to leak off into space over long periods of time.

  5. Well, you could try but there is just one problem that you would face. GLOBAL WARMING IS NOT REAL! If anyone doesn't agree then just e-mail me.

  6. Mars has already warmed a bit. As has Jupiter and, wow Earth.  Climate change is affecting our solar system.  Which has all been affected by our Sun (SOL)  Our sun controls climate, not man.  And to think otherwise gives Man too much credit.

But what you are considering is called "terraforming" and has been a  idea for decades.

  7. Interesting question, though It is still quite debatable whether or not humans have any significant effect on the earth's temperature.  For billions of years before humans existed, the earth has employed a sophisticated method of heating and cooling itself that we cannot fully understand, so the presumption that we could drastically affect another planet's temperature and atmosphere is unlikely.

If you are interested in the issue and want to hear all perspectives and not just the politicized aspect presented by the mainstream media, I recommend you read the book Climate Confusion by Roy W. Spencer, who was the Sr. Scientist for Climate Studies at NASA and is currently the Principal Research Scientist at U of Alabama-Huntsville.  He gives a clear and simple explanation of the heating/cooling process of the earth.

  8. It's a great idea, but the main thing is the price, how would you carry enough green house gases there? First you would need a way to capture it all, and a big enough ship to send it there. It is much cheaper and better for us to just start being a bit more smart.

But i know us humans, we don't realize that we are in **** until it's halfway up our necks.

  9. Well, it's funny that you ask that question.  I don't think we could feasably transport CO2 from Earth's atmosphere to Mars.  The weird thing about you asking though, is that Mars' atmosphere is already mostly CO2.  And, as it happens, Mars is getting warmer too.  So global warming is already occuring on Mars, but that's not our fault.  The fact that it's happening on Mars is one of the arguments against the idea that humans are responsible for the warming we're seeing here on Earth.  The people that make this argument say that the Sun is actually releasing more energy, which is warming both Earth and Mars at the same time.  I"m not saying i necessarily agree/disagree with this, mind you, i'm just saying that's what they say.  In the end though, i don't think what you're suggesting would work, just b/c there's so much less solar energy hitting Mars.  But interesting idea though :)

  10. not at all

we have made earth hot,so we have to face it not mars

and how r u going to release all those gases to mars???
