Global climate change! Who is at risk, us or the Planet?

The Earth has survived many extreme changes and circumstances, including reversal of the magnetic poles, catastrophic collisions with metiorites and asteroids, extreme radiation bombardment from sunspot activity and other cosmic phenomena. Now we are faced with another set of dillemna. The effects of our own activity on this Planet. But, lets get it straight, who are we concerned about? The earth will heal itself no matter what we do so let's not fool ourselves that it's the Earth we're concerned about. It's ourselves and our future as human beings on his Planet.

  1. ...Us, definitely, for believing conclusions based on junk science - the jury is still out on global warming, and many, except for Al Gore and some others, insist it is a real threat, but are not serious enough to make drastic changes in their own lifestyles - so much for global warming.  What is good for the goose should also apply to the gander.

...Please listen to all points of view on this issue.

...In the Bible, in Psalm 46:10, we read, "Be still and know that I am God" and "God is our refuge and strength".

...Trust the Lord, who is sovereign over the Heavens and the Earth.

  2. People will search out any information to support what they be live in and in that they will always find what ever they see to make themselves feel more comfortable about the position they hold. Now if your in the minority you always going to be in a uphill battle no matter how factual your data is for example the sky is blue, we all know the sky is blue but if a large group gets the popular kids to believe that is it really yellow, and then you get the heard mentality going safety in number and all those folks cant be wrong type crowds, they you have it the sky is now reported to be yellow because so an so who is a popular figure said so.

The question I want to know  is why does anyone believe some one because they have the all mighty PHD at the end of their name? Many so called the smart have been found out to be ultimately wrong on all counts due the fact they enjoyed their position of authority and the perks that came wit it. SO in the effort of self preservation these so called scholars say and backed up what ever they were told to do. The earth is flat because the scientist said so.

If we give up the freedom of discernment and doubt then we are selves are without freedom to be wrong or right.

  3. the planet.. and without the planet theres no us

  4. the earth doesn't care.

    it doesn't have a conscientious.

Darfur is an example of the problems that can be expected.

it'll be different in different places.

but it can, and likely will, be even more serious and widespread.

  5. humans are the problem as long as there is humans the planet will get worse the planet will heal when all the humans are gone when ever that is.

  6. We are at risk obviously, the planet will go on without us as it has for the past 4.6 billion years... we need to stop thinking we are the center of everything, if the last human is wiped off hte face of the earth then the earth will not explode and be dead it will carry on and new organisms will rise and continue on...

The thing is, we have the tools to change and environement to suit us, to an extent anyway, so we will prob linger on for a good time still, eventually we will die out but i dont rekn that will be for a while..

we need to somehow find an equilibrium with earth, we want to live our luxurious lifestyles but we want ot give nothing back..

  7. All of us, do you like the idea of living on the same type of planet as Mars?  Do you think biodiversity will survive in that type of atmosphere?

  8. Both of us. The Earth is being damaged, glaciers being destroyed. How much more heat can we handle? It's gonna keep getting hotter, so how are WE going to survive?

  9. Us.  The risk is not extinction (for most of us), but loss of our wealth.

The planet will survive a temperature increase of even several degrees, our advanced civilization won't.

  10. And I suppose this diatribe is meant to be an example of intelligent thought. C'mon, I mean.. your question is "Doh" so obvious it's trite.

  11. Nearly 10 million children under age five die every year of largely preventable diseases. Many of the main global killers of children - including malaria and diarrhoea - are sensitive to changes in temperature and rainfall, and could become more common if weather patterns change.

Climate change jeopardizes the quality and availability of water and food

WMO Secretary-General Michel Jarraud said that while there will always be both cooler and warmer individual years, the overall trend in temperatures is still upwards.

  12. THE Climate is just fine here! I guess ever where else is in trouble

  13. (Most) humans will survive also.   It will be the people that aren't able to adapt due to financial or geographic restraints that will suffer the most.   Eventually, the world will straighten itself out, but many species will die off before then and most will have a tougher time surviving.
