Global warming? Or a government distraction?

It's come to my attention in the past couple of years )through various sources) that PERHAPS Global warming is a ploy thought-up by our government to mask a possible North American Union. While I do believe and understand that Global warming might be taking place throughout our World, I'm curious to learn why all of a sudden the government started spending billions into ad campaigns.

I'm skeptical.

I only have general knowledge about our misguided, often top-secret/well hidden government agenda and it's really hard to see their benefit behind the Global Warming message.

The current administration doesn't care about global warming and even denied it's existence. They've funded both sides of the argument though. By at least acknowledging that it exists it helps them gain support or at least some slack from liberals, while still supporting and funding the republican side.

Well, there are plans in the works to build a massive infrastructure project that would create a massive series of superhighways stretching from south America all the way to Canada. The I-69 project in Indiana is a part of this, as well as the La Parota Dam in south America. The speculated goal of such a project would be to move more manufacturing into south America where wages are lower and environmental and social justice restrictions are less. Then the goods would be trucked north to the wealth nations of the US and Canada.

For obvious reasons, environmental groups with a concern for global climate shifts and the effects of emissions are fighting these roads, and fighting hard.

The people who are in favor of these roads are huge corporate interests, not environmentalists, and certainly not the locals in the areas affected.

So to be honest, I don't think that global warming and a north American union are tied together. As awareness of environmental issues increases, people would resist outsourcing, importation, and massive infrastructure projects rather than embrace them.

Think about it. If the government wants to build highways for diesel spewing trucks, why would they at the same time be making up stories about how air pollution is destroying the world? It's two completely incompatible concepts. If they were going to make up anything it would be "don't worry, there's no such thing as air pollution, so the more trucks the better."

I see your point in that the US government is doing very little to stem the flow of illegal immigrants into our country, in fact, they've made it easier by scrapping a 20 million dollar virtual fence that didn't work, probably intentionally.  President Bush, Bono, And Barack Obama think America should be an idea, not an actual place.  

Global warming is nothing more than big government getting bigger to the point of being a world wide government.  This is one reason why Al Gore and Obama keep mentioning the idea of "carbon taxes"  so you can put money into their interests and so they can redistribute the money to their causes.

I don't know how much they're spending.  Not as much as private sources.  I'm sure they didn't manufacture it.  I don't see any evidence the government (USA) was even aware of it before the 1940's.  After radar was invented it got hard to miss.

Global warming was not new then.  The idea that an atmosphere keeps a planet warmer than no atmosphere was shown in 1824.  The idea that some gases did this more than others is from 1859.  The idea that man made CO2 can be expected to heat us up is from 1896.  The USA was pretty isolationist until after WWII, so I doubt that a North American Union would have been accepted if it was proposed.

What I think is their position at present is, they're helping the oil and car companies keep us using petroleum down to the last drop if possible.  At the same time they know we're much closer to a crisis than most people think, so they want to leave themselves with a little credibility for whenever the lid blows off.  If they had continued denying everything as they did up until last year they would look like nincompoops when people suddenly find themselves in a crisis.  The sad part is they've probably known everything better than anyone since the mid 1940's, and chose to cover it up, rather than fix it when it would have been easy.

Government distraction.

Climate change is a money and power grab scheme by the bottom feeder politicians and power brokers. It's nothing to do with ecology and everything to do with money.

Con artists like Gore have enriched themselves on this issue, taking home Oscars, Nobel Prizes and millions of dollars. Meanwhile, evangelical leaders are setting up their flocks for extreme fleecing by leftist politicos like Barack Obama, who will appeal for Christian votes by talking in glowing, biblical-sounding terms about "being good stewards of God's creation."

Here is truth about global warming:

Global warming is one-half of the climatic cycle of warming and cooling.

The earth's mean temperature cycles around the freezing point of water.

This is a completely natural phenomenon which has been going on since

there has been water on this planet. It is driven by the sun.

Our planet is currently emerging from a 'mini ice age', so is

becoming warmer and may return to the point at which Greenland is again usable as farmland (as it has been in recorded history).

As the polar ice caps decrease, the amount of fresh water mixing with oceanic water will slow and perhaps stop the thermohaline cycle (the oceanic heat 'conveyor' which, among other things, keeps the U.S. east coast warm).

When this cycle slows/stops, the planet will cool again and begin to enter another ice age.

It's been happening for millions of years.

The worrisome and brutal predictions of drastic climate effects are based on computer models, NOT CLIMATE HISTORY.

As you probably know, computer models are not the most reliable of sources, especially when used to 'predict' chaotic systems such as weather.

Global warming/cooling, AKA 'climate change':

Humans did not cause it.

Lordy, Gee Whiz.  If it's in all caps, it -must- be true!  I believe in global warming now, all because of you.

The above is sarcasm.  That person should find the caps lock key...and fast.

Secondly, Dana is wrong.  It could very well be a hoax.  Throwing a link at people doesn't make it so.  Especially if it's a wiki link.  Siting Wiki as fact, that's amusing.

Thirdly, why couldn't it be?  Al Gore's campaign aside, the rest of those ads are government funded.  Government bans light bulbs in favor for a more expensive one filled with poisonous mercury, made by a company.  I don't doubt they're getting kick backs.

GW has become politicized far too much.  Now that the Earth is cooling, the government may very well look the fool, standing there with their 'end global warming now' signs.

Global warming is a natural phase of Earth, caused by some Solar Activities by Sun. We human don't have to bother about it. Some of the environmentalist says that this is because of the CO2 we are emitting into the environment, but the reality is that we are just contributing towards 1% to 10% of actual global warming.

If the actual cause of Global Warming is CO2 emitted by the humans then why Global Warming occures on other planets. Just Google for "Global Warming on other planets" and see the results, there are no humans on other planets.

Having too little CO2 in the environment will cause for the plants to die more early, more over it also cools down the temperature on earth.

Having too much CO2 (obiviously, not caused by humans. Mostly generated in the Sea/Oceans) will lead to Green House effect and will lead in increasing the temperature on Earth.

So, the best is to plant more trees so that there would be a balance for the consumption of CO2 on the planet.

I personally think that instead of thinking on this baseless issue try to think on what if Nuclear War broke out in the world, it will destroy Earth more rapidly.

So, next time whenever somebody says you about global warming, just ignore it.

The "North American Union" conspiracy theory predates the global warming fad; I recall hearing about it back in the days when the big enviro-scare was global cooling.  It's about as credible as stories about UFOs and fortune-telling.

I must be missing the ad campaigns you mention.

A North American union? Now just how would that deal with global warming? By removing borders so that people could migrate from Mexico and Canada to the USA? Vice versa? Move from Mexico to Canada?  Just what have you in mind?

I am not sure that freedom to migrate would be a bad thing, but I see nobody promoting the idea.

A Union that does not provide freedom to migrate? Is that not just NAFTA?

Now when climate change reaches the stage of triggering a new ice age, we really would need to consider abandoning Canada, Alaska, large parts of Northern USA. So making a move toward continental union might make sense.

On the other hand, Canada and Mexico may want to jealously guard their supplies of fossil fuels, ignore an ice age that may be 300 years away.
