Question:

Global warming and go green. But I feel so limited?

I'm 15 years old and I am aware of the whole global warming going on. I recycle, I use those special light bulbs, I use natural lights in the day time instead of turning the lights on, I eat at home at night with candles, over the summer we plant flowers outside our house. That is all I feel like I can do but I want to do more but I don't know how. I want to go out there and just help but I feel so limited. Is there anything I can do to help more? I really want to.

  1. All you can do is spread the word and you did just that by asking this question

  2. Convince someone else to take the same steps, maybe your family, friends or neighbors.

  3. You can prove to the world that they are making global warming exist. I know, you believe it so it must be true but, I have yet to see any scientific proof that people are contributing to global warming. The world is a very big laboratory with many variables that cannot be controlled, therefore there is not way to prove it.  But, if you convince me, that will be one more believer and then I will be able to do my part more willingly. :D

  4. Im green, infact my friends always call me a hippie! lol. And awnestly  I absolutly respect your awareness of the environment. I recycle, If spazz when I see pullution on the ground then pick it up, I planted trees in venturers for the year I was in it, I even go around  my house all hours of the night and turn them off. Yes what you do to be aware and prevent Global Warming can feel so limited I always do environmentally freindly things, I even bike pretty much everywhere I go! But what you need to do is think up all the GREEN things you can do like,

When your old enough and have the funds buy a hybrid, and plant trees in areas where the forests have been neglected and cut down. Bike to places more often, keep up your other green duties, and help others to be aware too, I find it pretty tough to find people like us who actually care about the environment, so again I respect you BIG time. don't worry not the whole world has to be worries, but don't let yourself go too much, keep being you because you are still young and you don't have to worry too much by now.

So relax and keep up your wonderful atitude for the environment. But stop feeling so limited look out of your window and realize your NOT limited, just be careful but be free and happy!

Best Regards. and Good Luck! :)

  5. OK you can calm down sure you can do some more by maybe trying to get other people to recycle etc too.But what you are doing is great because just those little things will keep the icebergs around for a couple more years .If everyone did those little things polar bears wouldn't be becoming extinct ...Your'e doing good. Also you could help volunteer picking up trash along the beach or go door to door asking for recyclables to recycle.Good luck!

  6. Don't give in to the propaganda.

  7. you'll be 16 soon so when you get a car get a hybrid

  8. If you are concerned about it at age 15 then you are doing great.  Just keep living your life with a "don't waste what we have" attitude, a deep respect for nature, and a willingness to be different from other people when it is important.

Later on, you might look for a career in renewable energy or conservation.  Go to college and get a degree in engineering, science or business so that you can be part of the process.  Don't be an "activist" sitting outside the business world complaining about why big business won't change - be part of it and change it from the inside.

    My opinion...

  9. You can turn your heating down at home a degree ot two. Make sure the appliances at home arent left on standby during the night.

FRom a factory churning out emissions point of view buy second hand goods where feasible, make clothing last, dont use polythene bags, always reuse any you do have ( you can wash and dry them on the clothes line), walk or cycle whenever sensible to do so or use public transport rather than get your parents to drive you. Dont use aerosol sprays.  Read up on energy saving appliances and convince your parents to replace the existing ones with the energy savers as they wear out. Encourage others without being a bore.

  10. SPREAD THE WORD get everyone doing it! that would help alot

  11. well this may seem kinda stupid but maybe do a lot of research then tell ur story what global warming is doing and then say what to do to stop it?!?!

  12. The planet is not warming, and man is not at fault. You people have to stop being such suckers for left wing propaganda.

  13. I'm a teenager and also feel the same way. I am trying to instate a recycling program in my school. and maybe plant trees at your local park. Try to spread the word about the effects of global warming

  14. I do not understand how candles help!!!!  it is still making carbon dioxide which is a greenhouse gas!!!

  15. start a petetion  and or support group on people who want to help out

  16. WELL GOOD FOR U! maybe when u take a shower u can turn the shower off when u are washing up and putting shampoo in ur hair, instead of whaching tv u can go outside and play, whenever you use a bottel of water u can reuse it, but most importantly just encourage other people to care. U are doing a great thing. Remember,u r a great person.

  17. yeah, um. global warming is THEORY and, in my book, doesn't exist.

oh yeah, those "energy saving" light bulbs contain mercury, which, when recycled, goes into dumps where scavengers (critters, birds) eat it and then, you start killing animals

*boo hoo* now your killing animals, mr. environmentalist

fun fact: one cow's f**t  produces more harmful gases then that of an automobile running for one straight hour

  18. it seem we can only do what we can without spending a crapload of money.  i wish i could do more to but, oh well.  anything you can do is great.  anytime you have to go anywhere like the store, practice, or a friends house, think about walking or biking there rather than getting a ride.

  19. Turn the water off when you brush your teeth, walk instead of having your parents drive you, hang your clothes to dry instead of putting them in the dryer, eat only local products, eat less meat, don't buy pre-packaged food, unplug things like your hairdryer and your stereo when you aren't using them, don't use the air conditioner.

There are lots of things that you can do to reduce your carbon footprint.

You can also help by joining an environmental club at school.

    Hope this helps!

  20. Organize a pick up litter day at the park (school or girl guides) or a tree planting day, your local politicians usually help with those.

    Find ways to recycle items.

www.freecycle.org is one way to recycle something like moving boxes if you live in the city, or something which still has some life in it, (old computers, tvs, games, radios, clothes, shoes, purses, an old fence, old bike, hockey skates, sports equipment, etc.)
