  1. Certainly global warming can be fixed--people are causing it and we can change what we are doing.

The nice thing about it is that doing so will just help everyone (except the special interests--oil,coal, etc.)  Think about it: we can produce cars that are cheaper to operate because they require less gas, we can save money with energy efficient devices like compact flourescent light bulbs.  Mass transit systems will relieve traffic congestion for those who want or need to drive--and save everyone money either on transportation or taxes that have to go to road maintainence.  New technologies like solar and wind power create new businesses and new jobs.

Look--I'm not just talking.  I am a grad student--I can't do all those things yet. btu t I do what I can.  I've cut my electric bills by 30%--and its' no trouble.  Make sure wather stripping is up to par, use the CFL bulbs, etc. All of it puts money in my pocket.

Its been a wake-up call to me--not about the environmeent. About cold hard cash.  Staying with anything that relies on oil, natural gas, or coal is jst bad economics.    I'm hapy to help the environment, yes. I think its vital to our future. But frankly, on a personl level, day by day--my motie is just as much financial.  The more you look at it, the more you will realize that those technologies are obsolete. Modern energy production technologies are more efficient and produce energy at less cost. And energy efficiency is just good sense--why waste hudreds or thousands of dollars on things when you can get the same results with energy-efficient devices. And improve your standard of living with the money you save?

  2. They think that they can fix it if they control how people live.

  3. Solar Power Socialism could fix Society and poverty that is why people care. Human Survival

  4. environmentalist freaks and democrats just like to be difficult...

  5. Assuming it's happening, and it's caused by increased atmospheric CO2 levels, we would need to leech CO2 and/or other greenhouse gases out of the air. This is an engineering problem, and it's not insurmountable. We put all of that stuff into the air, more or less as accidental byproducts of our energy production, and with more advanced technology and some smart minds thinking about the problem, I believe we can solve it.

But people do care about it, regardless of whether it can be fixed, because it is currently and will increasingly affect MANY lives, causing death and destruction (it already has, with increasingly deadlier and more frequent storms and tsunamis).

Global warming is definitely happening. The only question is whether are not human generated CO2 levels are responsible, and the answer to that question will strongly determine whether it will continue indefinitely or whether it might turn around and things will cool down. There is some evidence it's us though, but unfortunately politics has clouded the issue to the point where any scientist who comes with some evidence that another factor, such as solar variance, might be responsible, they are shouted away; this is never a good way to do science.

I think we need to keep politics out of this question, stop finger pointing, and let science determine what's happening, and how to solve it.

  6. Question assumes a false premise.  Global warming CAN be fixed, we just have to take out most of the CO2 that we put in.

People have been working on this for years, see the paper at the link.

  7. They are trying to gain political advantage and find yet another way to tax us while they fly around the country in their private jets.

The real issue that is going to be coming up in the future is the global population.  It is currently at 6.7 billion.  It was 4 billion in 1970.  At this rate and with much of our corn now being wasted on the production of ethanol, the real issue is going to be food.

  8. who or what is controlling how people live. the people warning us about global warming or is it the water in the worlds oceans that are rising and encroaching on the land mass, that is controlling how we live.  earths population is expanding, guess what, land mass on earth is shrinking. how long can you stand on one foot.

  9. humans will never come to their senses  and started thinking about protecting our environment its not all about global warming there is ice capes melting trees being cut down animals being extinct and sea levels rising all of these are signs of the uncoming apocalypse.in the last years of earth there will be more wars diseases global warming more natural disasters and more global conflict.its already happening

  10. but well it can be helped people could quit driveing and burning things to start with...

  11. Really?

People care because they are intelligent.

It can be fixed.  Here's how

    http://www.sciam.com/article.cfm?id=a-so...

To see how we could have 65% solar grid by 2050, near 100% by 2100

Spending less public money than we now give to oil companies in subsidies.

    and

"The huge reduction in imported oil would lower trade balance payments by $300 billion a year, assuming a crude oil price of $60 a barrel (average prices were higher in 2007)."

The cost in public money would be

"Less than the current U.S. Farm Price Support program. It is also less than the tax subsidies that have been levied to build the country’s high-speed telecommunications infrastructure over the past 35 years."

    from Ausra's website

"Solar thermal power plants such as Ausra's generate electricity by driving steam turbines with sunshine. Ausra's solar concentrators boil water with focused sunlight, and produce electricity at prices directly competitive with gas- and coal-fired electric power."

Ausra is a solar thermal power plant company.  there are several others.  Go to Green Wombat to read about them.

  12. How do you KNOW it can't be fixed?

  13. because it can be slowed down, saving generations, as opposed to lifetimes.. Or a century as opposed to decades.

It depends. Its our job -We ****** up, we deal!

Thanks capitalism, Money really is the root of all evil!

  14. global warming cant be fixed cause it isnt real. why dont we all focus on mending dragons wings and who will look after the poor lava monsters  *rolls eyes* crazy liberals

  15. Seriously,

If I could see you or find you right now I would punch you in the head.

  16. It's never to late...

  17. I also do not think we can make a real difference anymore to change the momentum of global warming

On a Global scale,Humanity is not co operative enough .

The poor regions have other priorities such as daily survival.

In the first world countries many do not care (and you are one of those as you say) or are more interested in Global Control than Global Warming.

but like love ,There are all kinds of care .

i also don`t care about Global Warming.

I care more for my dog.

Global warming  tends to equate with

    Environmental care these days ,

And when people make statements as you do ,it appears to be an excuse NOT to behave responsible or frugal with our natural resources. And there is a lot we can do about that ,

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

Because we still have a lot of problems ,apart from global warming ,and we must examine Human behavior towards the Environment and drastically mend our ways, since this is relevant to mans survival on earth.

    There is potable water shortage

    Water, Air and soil pollution.

    Animal extinction

    Deforestation

    Desertification

    Loss of Arable lands

    corporate agriculture

    Ethanol production

    Overfishing of the seas

Overpopulation in many poor regions of this planet.

Disease and starvation for many,(these people are in no position to have green philosophies.)

Unwise and unhealthy living conditions (tall apartment buildings)

And probably soon WAR as well

too name but a few inter related  items.
