Question:

Global warming: do you think nature will restore order upon itself?

Global warming is a very hot topic. My favorite book on the subject is Michael Crichton's "State of Fear." (too bad it's fiction)

I recently read that certain pine trees are beginning to produce abnormally large amounts of pine cones. Scientists think that this could be a result of global warming, and nature's way of keeping itself in check. i.e. trees will grow closer together and absorb more CO2.

I get tired of people like Al Gore who quote false facts, as well as the people that think the Tesla Roadster will be our savior (because more green house gasses are released making all that electricity).

Give me some REAL info.

  1. NO! there is no way that nature is going to be able to restore itself while humans dont give a toss! We are the biggest and i would say only contributer to global and atmospheric changes. While humans are living on this planet, here is no way that nature is going to be able to fight against global warming or even restore itself in the future unless something seriously changes.

  2. How in blazes does anybody know what an "abnormal" amount of pine cones is?  Pine trees have been around for millions of years, yet I doubt we have even a couple of decades worth of records on pine cone production.  Are there teams of people going into all the forests of the earth and countiing all the pine cones?

I agree with you that we need more hard facts and less balonious "facts" coming from social puppeteers.  Keep your thinking going!  We need more like you.

  3. I think nature is perfectly capable of restoring itself to some sort of balance, but it won't be the same balance that it had before we started messing it up.  I think that the only way this is going to happen, though, is if people start thinking about the consequences of our actions.  It's a lot easier to say that you don't believe in global warming or whatnot than to do anything about it.

  4. ooh a nature lover?...

well,  i think that nature can restore itself but it needs our help .

we are part of nature . so if we help nature can definetly be rescued

  5. It's my opinion that any warming isn't anything we should be worried about.  Remember we're only talking about a 0.6 degree increase in temperatures, and that increase started at a time when temps were below what scientist consider 'normal'.

Scientist at NASA's Earth's observatory  who study the Sun state that the Sun is responsible for half of that increase.

So what is all the panic about?  Granted we should do what we can to reduce carbon emissions, but there is no reason to raise taxes, force people to use environmentally harmful light bulbs, ect....

By reducing carbon by building nuclear power plants, nature will correct any unbalance as it always has.

  6. I'm sorry...you're favorite book on the subject is a work of fiction, and has been derided by scientists, and yet you don't like someone who has some access to the truth.

Yeah nature can heal itself just fine if humans weren't continuing to destroy it.
