  1. My opinion doesn't matter.  The opinion of the scientific world does.  Unfortunately the vested interests of the mega-corporations have the loudest voice. The earth is in serious trouble.  Have you noticed that now climate change is indisputable and accepted that the opposition is now siting cyclic changes.  The truth is we are supposed to be in a period of cooling as the earths orbit around the sun becomes more eliptical.  The collapse today of thousands of square kilometres of the Wilkins Ice Shelf is significant because it will cause an increase in the melting of glacial Ice and snow. But check out this link and see what you think.? http://www.savetherainforest.org/savethe...

  2. Cannot agree.  Governments are spending billions of dollars per year in global warming studies so they can raise billions of dollars in taxes?  Does not make sense.

Global warming was started by scientists with the reasonable hypothesis that with co2 as a proven greenhouse gas increasing in the atmosphere, this can cause temperatures to rise.

Left wing groups picked up on this idea and promoted it because they believe we should be more energy efficient for a number of reasons.  But the public was not interested in their policies.  So they had to keep painting scarier and scarier scenarios to get the publics attention to support their position.

It has now come to a point that if any politician expresses doubt on this belief it could ruin their careers.  So they say they support AGW theory but they do not do anything about it in the hopes that no one notices.

In the meantime there are companies that have invested billions of dollars in finding alternative sources of energy, including oil companies, in the belief that AGW is real.  If the theory turns out to be false they are going to lose a lot of money.

  3. Can be both. Men can think of ways to get rich in critical situations.

  4. It is a perpetual scam in this country.  The oil companies are also going at it too.  You know that Spring increase in gas prices to retool their refineries in order to 'reformulate'?  Yea, that's another freakin scam and excuse to reap more profits from vacationers and that sudden increase in oil usage.  Enron did the same thing with California, yet they got caught.  There was this lady going around and having turbines shut down in order to create a false electricity shortage, thereby justifying an increase in electricity rates...  However, they were simply doing the same thing that oil companies have been doing for years.

Nothing but perpetual scams in this country.

  5. It has been used to justify a lot of taxes in some countries.  One thing is for sure, the taxes won't get repealed if the global temperature goes down.

  6. I dont believe in it.....

  7. It can be both you know

  8. Real.

Modifying current behavior is necesary if we're going to save our food supplies:

    http://www.climatechangenews.org/nFood.h...

    The World's Growing Food-Price Crisis - TIME

"Soaring prices of staples — which have risen about 75% since 2005, driven by growing demand, rising oil prices and the effects of global warming — have sparked riots in several countries, as people reel from sticker shock and governments scramble to feed their people."

Fresh records for price of wheat- BBC News

"Wheat prices have hit record levels as supplies dwindle, raising concerns about growing food inflation. Reports of a drought in Northern China, where most of the country's wheat is grown, also pushed prices higher. Extreme weather has already damaged crops in other parts of the world and US wheat inventories are expected to fall to their lowest level for 60 years."

  9. I think its real. I don't see anyone profiting from Global Warming. If anything the oil companies are losing money, people are driving less, buying hybrids or using ethanol, which means not using as much gas/oil. Recycling is free, and if you use less electricity, or solar panels you are actually paying less $ in the long run. I see green living as a money saver, not a money spender.

  10. Quite apart from reality of global warming, A carbon tax can be revenue neutral or even progressive. If the average family were to be taxed say $2000 in carbon tax, but then other taxes were reduced by $2000 on average, then on average we would be no poorer.

But, if the $2000 came to you as a simple cash payment, available to everyone that files their state income taxes, then the poorest like the richest gets 2000, but the poorer will in all probability not pay that much in carbon tax, while a person with a higher income would likely pay more.

So, no matter that global warming might be unstoppable, we are not out any money.

If we do decide to cut down on use of fossil fuels, we can even be money ahead.

  11. Al Gore certainly thinks its real. but why would you listen to Al Gore.
