Global warming result of overpopulation?

Big scare campain about shortage of food, oil deposits and climate change... Reports that population is expected to double... wouldn't be easier to create incentives to have one child per family until population gets to sustainable level? Not like China it's being cruel to it's own people but supporting financially family with one child and tax every one thereafter?

  1. Who knows how much it is contributing to global warming...the real problem is unrenewable resources like oil, coal, drinking water, and fertile land.  There are limits on these things and overpopulation is only going to drive them down faster and faster...there is big, big pressure on science and engineering to come up with a feasible alternative to oil and coal for energy for this very reason, not because of global warming.

  2. Okay, here's a fact for you.  The State of Texas is 261,979 square miles in total surface area.  Translate that to square metres, and you have 678,522,495,157 square metres.  The world's total population currently sits at roughly 6.5 billion.  That's nearly 10.5 square metres per person.  Does that sound overpopulated to you?  It doesn't to me.

Our world is not overpopulated, sorry to burst the bubble of those who claim it is.  Let me convert that to Imperial measurements for you - 10.5 square metres is equivalent to 112 square feet per person.  That is a lot of space per person I would say.

Secondly, you used the words 'scare campaign', and you've hit it spot on.  Global warming, overpopulation, etc., etc., is just that - a scare campaign.  I'm not sure what end outcome is desired, but it's a scare campaign.  This world has the capability to produce plenty of food to feed the entire population.  It's not the planet at fault for this, it's us.  We don't use many of our resources wisely.  Think of all the food we throw out, all of the farmland that isn't being used properly (no rotation of crops, etc.), all of the food that spoils so quickly in our refrigerators (I don't know about anyone else, but both my mother and I agree that vegetables do not last as long as they did 20 years ago), the claims of wheat left to rot in silos in India, etc., and I'm sure you can agree that we're are horribly mismanaging our resources.

Thirdly, if every wealthy person in the world (and by wealthy I'm referring to people like Bill Gates, all of the A-list actors, professional sports players, etc.) would take even half of their wealth and distribute it to the poor areas of our planet (and remove the corrupt that are in government right now), NO ONE would be poor, starving, or dying.

Fourthly, large families are not a bad thing.  The purpose of large families was to ensure that the family could survive when there was such a thing as home farms.  Back when people had to really work to survive, this was a necessity.  The parents also knew they would be cared for in their old age, instead of being left to the hands of some of the uncaring staff in nursing homes.  My grandparents had 15 children, two who passed away in infancy.  They continued to have children until my grandmother was 47.  They were independent right up until my grandmother was no longer able to do things for herself, and then my aunt and uncle living next door did whatever they could that my grandfather couldn't do.  The same happened for my grandfather.  Was their life perfect?  No, of course not.

Is there overpopulation in some countries?  Yes, there is.  China and India are both grossly overpopulated.  But there is such a thing as moving to a new place.  Also, medical technologies have come so far that it can keep us alive when 50 years ago a simple heart attack would have killed us on the spot.  That also contributes to the problem.

As for global warming (which was your original question), it is a myth.  The planet goes through natural cycles of warming and cooling all the time, and nothing we do will ever change that.  I get very tired of listening to the arrogance in our species.  We seem to have this desire to control everything, including nature.  Everything that goes on in this world, we somehow have to find a way to control it.  Childbirth, the weather, and on and on.  Leave natural things alone!  Nature has been doing her thing since the beginning of time, and it's when we get involved that we throw off the delicate balance and start s******g things up.  We are a very arrogant species.

As recently as the 70s, we were headed for an ice age, and now here were are in the midst of a global catastrophe because of 'global warming'.  It's all hooey.  I can't wait to hear what backpedaling will be going on when there is no catastrophe due to global warming.

  3. Yep, Global warming is from over popultion, but it wouldn't be easier, only because of all the people in the world who would prefer to care about their children, then the future of heir children, I'd be willing to go along with China, but theres one thing, China is the biggest, or second biggest contributer to global warming, so it's not all the answer.

  4. Global warming would happen even if there were no humans here at all. So I would say the answer is no. More "greenhouse gases" come from one volcano than have come from humans since the industrial revolution. So there.

  5. You are right .

    There is global warming,

India is just a country to be over populated not the whole world.

so apart from population there is other aspects which leads to global warming i.e. pollution, selfish attitude of humans , deforestation,

    soil errosion e.t.c

  6. Yes the world is overpopulated and we are all contributing to the global warming and climate changes.  Ironically, we seem to be having a small baby boom lately!  I think we need to educate ourselves and our communities and point out the disadvantages created by having large families.  I think it would be extremely helpful if birth control was given out freely to everyone; but that would stir up many problems.

  7. I think its a matter of lack of personal responsibility/intelligence and being a welfare state. Blame others for you know not what you do.

  8. people just won't understand....they want to be free and have a lot of kids....

the thing is that iti is true, we are already way over populated....

but people won't let the government try to even advice us to stop reproducing like rabbits.

  9. yes i think we should let the government decide how many children we have.  given the governments past track records of success, i dont see how it could go wrong.  i mean the government eliminated drugs from the streets of america with the war on drugs, there is no more poverty ever since the war on poverty, the world has no more war since america is its policeman, and now the world will get even better now that the government will keep stupid people from having the wrong amount of kids.  god im so happy the government is there to protect me.
