  1. Increasing and decreasing temperatures over time - before humans arrived on the scene and also before we began using fossil fuels . Al Gore's movie left this and other evidence that contradicted his claims; and completely glossed over the naturally-occurring variability of temperature over time.

The time of the dinosaurs (no fossil fuel use at all) was very much warmer than today. A good part of middle and late medieval times (before significant fossil fuel use) were much warmer than today.  The 14th century was extremely cold - the combination of cold weather and the Black Plague killed a good part of Europe's population. During the author Mary Shelley's time, Europe experienced an extreme cold snap due to a volcanic eruption that placed dust in the atmosphere. The late 1800's were warmer than today. The 1930's in parts of the world were warmer than today. The mid-1940's to early 1950's were exceptionally cold. After the Mount St. Helens explosion in Washington state (USA) the northwestern US was colder than before, until the volcanic dust settled out of the atmosphere.

All past recorded global temperature swings correspond to natural phenomena like the Sun's variability, meteoric impact, and volcanic explosions. The Sun does expand and contract, and also changes its heat output, over time. Astronomical observations verify that.

When I was a kid in the 1970's the computer models in use then were predicting an ice age by the late 1990's. Now, the computer models are predicting global warming within a few years.

Actual temperature measurements are showing that were are in a cooling phase, since the start of this century. The 1990's were slightly warmer than now; and cooling began shortly after the turn of this century.

OK, now my two-cent rant: the weatherman can't reliably predict what the weather will be like in two weeks. Yet global warming adherents claim computer models can accurately predict hundreds of years into the future - this is the same claim global cooling people made in the 1970s.

  2. Until recently there has been a Scientific debate about if global climate change was part of a natural oscilation in climate. The science is in and (real) scientists realize that the industrial revolution and other man-made activities have impacted a change in climate. There are a very few well paid skeptics that will certainly spoon-feed you the misinformation youare looking for.

  3. The primary piece of evidence that tells us that the warming is not attributed from AGW is the very computer models that predict global warming also require that the mid troposphere, "the part of the atmosphere that is capturing the heat", should warm at a faster rate (20% globally) than the surface. The graph below clearly shows that the surface left, warmed at a faster rate than two different temperature graphs of the mid troposphere.

This pretty much slams the door shut on the AGW theory. But another condeming piece of data for the AGW theory is to compare the global temperatures of the Northern and Southern hemispheres. The Southern Hemisphere shows a warming trend of only .066 deg. C/Decade over the last thirty years. While the Northern Hemisphere shows a modest warming of .2 deg C/Decade. Atmospheric CO2 levels are the same for both hemispheres, the El-Nino phenomena is primarily a Northern Hemisphere event and is repsonsible for a large percentage of the warming over the las 30 years.

The Pacific Decadal Oscillation or PDO has been in its warm phase for the last 30 years, which causes the climate to warm via increased number and intensities of EL-Nino.

The data clearly shows the reason for the warming, understanding it all is a totally different topic.

  4. Well its been documented that earth has gone through several ice ages, so it would only be natural that the earth goes through several hot periods, like the period of time where the mass of land that was to become Siberia suffered a bout of mass volcanic eruptions, thus creating the oxygen rich environment taht gave birth to the dinosaurs.

I think we are just in the middle of going into one of these hot periods.

  5. Yes, it is.

The earths temperature fluctuates over time....

  6. Ummmm, what is GB?  Never heard the term before.  Always interested in learning something new.

This is true, but the question is: how much?

  8. The evidence comes from ice cores in glaciers at the poles, rings on very old trees, historical documentation, oceanic core samples and extinction of animals due to climate change.
