Which would you suggest and why? I've handled both xd9 feels a little bulky (in my hands) and the glock has optional 30 rnd mags which the xd doesn't. It seems glock has a longer proven track record and xd9 is he new kid on the block. Thanks

  1. The Glock, hands down... it has been the standard in the handgun market for nearly 20 years... any doubt as to the reliability of the glock... watch the "torture test" video... its amazing.  Honestly, theres nothing wrong with the XD... Ive fired a couple, they are good looking and nice firing pistols...

But the glock is where I always find myself returning after shooting all varieties of pistol. Go with the best... their slogan isnt "Glock Perfection" for nothing.

And unless youre a LEO, you cant get them...  but watching people fire a glock equipped with an FSSG, is AWESOME!

  2. Glock 19.

BTW, Glock's trigger can be easily improved by (lightly) polishing the firing pin release and where the connector and trigger bar contact.

  3. I carry concealed all the time - XD-45acp in 4" Service model.  If you ever carried concealed - you would know the weight of the 30rd mags is ridiculious and not something you can easily carry.

XD was pistol of the year and won a ton of recent awards for it's very safe features......... and Springfield Armory has been around since the war of 1812.  That makes Glock the new kid on the block, and, Glock hasn't done much in 10 years.

    Hope this helps

  4. Go with the Springfield, Glocks are over rated and don't keep their value.  Mushy trigger pull, top heavy, and uncomfortable.  Personally Glocks are junk from the 70's with a fancy name that made a comeback.  More importantly, Glocks don't have a adequate safety.  Put your bullets where your mouth is...  get on the range all of you Glock fans.  Lets see ya shoot!!!!!!!

  5. I love these questions because I can give my opinion!! I've shot both guns, a lot, I mean a lot.

I work a large sporting goods store in Mich and we have many opportunities to shoot guns every year.

I would choose the XD, Hands Down!!!!!!!!

Shoots like a charm, is easy to tear down and clean and I have yet to find a box of ammo, any box, that gives the XD any problem.  The XD loves everything and shoots very well with all ammo I've run through it.

    I own a XD.

One of the answers to your question makes reference to shooting, even dirty.

I would never shoot any gun if I've dropped the gun in the dirt.

I would take the time to clean any gun I even remotely suspect has been "infected" with any sand, dirt or other foreign substance.

But the Glocks claim to fame is that it will shoot, even is pulled out of the mud.

But, most of us aren't going to slop around in the mud or dirt, therefore no need to use that example.

  6. xd-9 because the glock tends to jam my uncle has had three in a period of five years because they stop working

  7. I prefer the Springfield XD over Glocks. I think the XD is an all around better gun. The XD is just as reliable as the Glocks are but the XD has 3 other safeties that Glocks do not have. Both us the USA trigger safety (which I do not think is a true safety), but the XD has the grip safety (like a 1911), a striker status indicator (on back of slide) that you can visually see if the striker is in the ready to fire position, and the load indicator (on top of slide) that will visually tell you if you have a live round in the chamber.

I also like the ergonomics of the XD. It has a natural point that I do not see in Glocks, the grip is a little smaller so my hand fits better (even for the full size Tactical Models). The XD is also a little heavier so less recoil. The sights are better and easier on my eyes.

I really do not see a point to have a 30 round magazine for a pistol...In my eyes it just takes less time to blow through more rounds...The XD even though newer has a very good track record and many people (from what my local gun shop owner says) are going the XD way.

What it comes down to is which gun feels better in your hand. That is the one you go with...I don't like Glocks grip angle and the slide comes too close (to my hand) for comfort when the slide is blown back.

  8. I am partial to the XD... with proper cleaning and lubrication they are very reliable.

Glock has it's fans... I just dont like the trigger... all I've ever fired are heavy and mushy.

30 round mags? Just for fun , okie dokie. If you want to carry a "tactical" handgun learn to shoot... most gunfights end with way less that 5 shots total between both combatants.

I'd prefer for my first 2 to hit center mass and he didnt get to miss with his 3.............. know what I mean/
