  1. According to the National Kidney Foundation. a reading of 60 to 90 shows Stage 2 Kidney Disease. This is considered Mild Damage. (Stage 5 [GFR less than 15] is complete kidney failure, and requires dialysis).

    The EST means that the lab has estimated the reading based on other readings like Creatanine and BUN.

    Your readings indicate that you need to have SOME concern, but if you follow doctors orders you are not yet anywhere close to "deadly".

    NOTE: If you are diabetic, this is expected.


  2. It is the Glomerular Filtration Rate... the amount of fluid that your kidneys filter from the blood over a given amount of time. The more your kidneys filter, the better they can do their job.

    Less than 30 is considered to be impaired, and less than 15 is kidney failure.

    I'd say >60 means her kidneys are working just fine! Congrats!
