Glomorgan signs Mark Cosgrove for the 2011 Friends Provident T20 campaign
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Glamorgan-c784 County Cricket Club has revised its contract with Tasmanian batsman Mark Cosgrove for the Friends Provident T20 tournament next season. Cosgrove will join the newly appointed county captain Alviro Petersen as another
overseas player of the Welsh county next season. The South African batsman would replace http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jamie-Dalrymple-c1658 as captain of the club.
This would be Cosgrove's fourth season with the Glamorgan CCC and is looking forward to his return with an aim of playing much better than last season. "This will be my fourth season with Glamorgan and I'm delighted to be returning,"
said the left-hander who scored a tally of 562 runs in the 2010 Friends Provident T20. "The club has a talented squad and I look forward to what I hope will be a successful Twenty20 campaign in 2011."
The 26-year-old left-handed batsman was a bit unhappy for not making the whole season for Glamorgan next year though he said it would be great chance to play the shortest version for the club.
"I can't wait to get over and see the lads and play some good cricket," said old Cosgrove. "I'm a bit disappointed that I can't spend the whole year with Glamorgan but it's a great chance to play Twenty20," he added further.
The Tasmanian batsman, who had been opening for the county last season, piled 1,187 runs in the county championship while 959 in the one-day cricket.
The return of Tasmanian batsman, who had a successful season with the county in 2010, will be good news for the county after the turmoil which has seen county President Peter http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Walker-c95903, Coach Matthew Maynard and the axed skipper Jamie
Dalrymple leaving the club. All the three resigned in protest against some revamping steps taken by the management after a review of the fruitless 2010 season.
Glamorgan came up short in all the three formats during the 2010 county season missing out on a promotion to the County Championship Division One after drawing the final game against Derbyshire.
The Chief Executive of the Glamorgan County Cricket Club, Alan Hamer, has welcomed the return of Cosgrove to the county saying that the Australian has been an outstanding player for Glamorgan during the 2010 season.
"Mark has been an exceptional player for the club and is a very popular player with our supporters and members," said Hamer. "We are delighted that Mark will be returning to us again in 2011 as our second overseas player in the
Twenty20 competition," he further added.
