Glorious moments of Sachin Tendulkar’s cricketing career – Part I
Veteran Indian batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820, India, the Master Blaster was just 16 when he became India’s youngest Test cricketer, on November 1989. He made his ODI debut the next month.
After failing to impress on his Test and ODI debuts - managing 15 and a duck respectively - the right-hander conducted himself in an exemplary fashion in years to come, as he went on to amass on and off the field records by the dozens.
Sachin, a veteran of 190 Tests and 463 ODIs, holds the record for most runs scored in One Day International as well as Test cricket. Also, he has scored the maximum centuries in both ODI (49) and Test (51) formats of the game. A unique record that the Maharashtra right-hander holds is the ton of international tons. Until December last year, Tendulkar was the only International cricketer to have scored a double ton in an ODI innings. The 39-year-old right-handed batsman is the First player to reach 10,000-11,000-12,000-13,000-14,000-15,000, 16,000 and 17,000, 18,000 ODI runs.
The Master Blaster, by his sheer consistency and longevity, has set a landmark that shall probably never be conquered. The only close competitors the Little Batting Maestro has faced during his 23-year-long international career are Brian Lara (http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746). But with Lara already out of the international scene and Ponting’s exit on cards, one sees no threat to Sachin’s host of records in the near future.
Besides his on the field records, Sachin also holds individual honours and appreciations. Given below are few of the glorious moments of Sachin’s cricketing career:
