Gloucester leave Saints behind – Aviva Premiership match report
Northampton Saints helped Gloucester rugby to get 5 points ahead of them in the Aviva Premiership table, after the 27-15 defeat by Gloucester this Tuesday at Kingsholm.
Northampton Saints were shocked by the results, as they were favourites for this match.
Northampton Saints are now placed at the 4th position and Gloucester rugby stands at third position on charts after the Premiership affair. It is a big step for Gloucester, as this victory came as a welcome note.
Heineken’s Cup semi finalists and Jim Mallinder’s special weapons broke the ice by scoring first try. Alex Waller the prop was the one to slot an early try. There was a sudden response when Whites and Charles moved forward to produce results and proved their
class.
It was the 9th minute when Waller moved forward and touched down for Saints. Unfortunately, Shane Geraghty, the fly half wasn’t able to convert that try. This resulted against the Saints and the hosts took favour of it, when Tim Molenaar took the ball forward
and Nicky Robinson showed great support to give a perfect finish in 13th minute. This try took Gloucester rugby to the lead.
It was Freddy Burns who was successful in adding a penalty, while Gloucester’s score was gradually taking a considerate gap from Saints. After this 13th minute penalty, Gloucester rugby slotted again and it was of no surprise, as the Saints were already
in pressure. This 27thn minute try was scored by Charlie Sharples, who made a storming run. Freddie Burns was efficient enough to add the conversion points to it.
Freddie Burns came in handy for Gloucester and he not only passed the ball around, but also slotted another penalty after the first half break, as the game was slipping away from the Northampton Saints.
Whites and Charlie duo was at its peak, as they slotted another try during the 51st minute and were assisted by Burns. It was Olivier Azam, who scored another try. The hooker’s try was converted by Freddie Burns and turned out to be a blessing for his side.
Northampton Saints couldn’t put much impact on the opposition. They did respond with a try from Lee Dickson, which was converted by Beraghty, but to their disadvantage, it wasn’t exactly sufficient to get them a losing bonus point.
