Gloucester prop Paul Doran-Jones dismisses Wasps rumours
Gloucester prop Paul Doran-Jones has insisted that he is happy at the club and distanced himself from rumours linking him with a move to Aviva Premiership rivals Wasps.
Wasps are known to be searching for a replacement for England international Phil Vickery, who was part of the World Cup winning squad in 2003.
Speaking to BBC Gloucestershire, Doran-Jones said, "To be put in the same sentence as Phil Vickery is massive. He's achieved just about everything in the game."
Doran-Jones spent a season with Wasps before signing for Gloucester in 2009. The prop left the club as Vickery was the first choice player in the Wasps team.
However, Vickery retired this season after he was advised by medical experts to give up the game.
The forward admitted that until a new contract was signed the speculation would continue, but the England prop was keen to stress that he wished to remain at Gloucester.
"I'm [out of contract] at the end of the year so these rumours will go round—but I'm happy where I am," said the forward.
Doran-Jones has been included in Martin Johnson’s squad for the Autumn Internationals, but the prop has failed to feature in the games against Australia and New Zealand.
Doran-Jones made his international debut against Argentina last year and the player is eager to learn from his involvement in the England squad.
"It's a great environment for me to be in, and to get more game time would obviously help my experience. I think the issue at the moment might be my international experience, but I think I'm playing quite
well, and building that week by week is my only focus at the moment," said the prop.
Gloucester are expected to offer Doran-Jones a new deal soon as the player is considered to be a valued member of the Gloucester team.
