Gloucestershire gain the edge, as Surrey get bowled out for 225: County Championship Division Two – 1st Day’s Recap

The hosts managed 225 runs in their first innings and were bowled out whereas the Gloucestershire batsman collected 171 for the loss of four wickets until close of play. They still trail by 54 runs, but have six wickets in hand.

The pair put together 57 runs for the second wicket partnership and the home team looked well under control. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andrew-Symonds-c44611 played aggressive cricket, but was unable to carry onto the start to his innings and was dismissed after adding 40 runs to the total from 45 deliveries.
Ramprakash was also unable to make most of the start and was sent back to the pavilion after adding 30 runs to the total. He looked solid in the middle, but would have been disappointed to throw his wicket away.

De Bruyn top scored the innings with 66 runs and was the ninth wicket to fall in the Surrey innings. His effort guided the team to a respectable total in the end.

Gloucestershire lost a couple of early wickets, but http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hamish-Marshall-c1525 also played well for his 35, but failed to carry onto the start.
