The day began with Gloucestershire resuming their first innings from 182 runs for the loss of five wickets with APR Gidman unbeaten on a tally of 72 and IA Cockbain on 0.

The skipper was then joined by WRS Gidman in the middle as the duo desperately sought a big total in order to subdue the fielding side which was looking quite active and raring to end the batting side’s innings.

ID Saxelby then joined the party and looked impressive with the bat as he aimed to stay on the wicket long enough for his team to post a tough total.
While the batsman remained unbeaten on 17 runs off 26 deliveries, he saw APR Gidman perish after staggering an exuberant innings of 129 runs, which played a key role in helping the team amass a respectable first innings total.
Beginning their second innings, Derbyshire made an impact by staggering a lead against their opposition, thanks to the fine innings of 72 runs from skipper WL Madsen and unbeaten knock of 64 runs from middle-order batsman DJ Redfern.
