Gloves in hockey?

Question

in a recent (field) hockey (champions trophy) match between netherlands and spain with around 21.20 minutes to go till the end of the first half there was a penalty and someone put on gloves - except they looked like cricket batting gloves,

were they? and also which other cricket equipment can be used in hockey? i know the ball is the same as a cricket white ball...

gloves are normally worn to stop your fingers being smashed if a ball flicks up.. but they only cover the 3 main fingers..  but i don't no why the were using them for a penalty.. they aren't then same as cricket gloves... no cricket equipment is used in hockey .. xox

As said above the are not cricket gloves, their is absolutely no cricket equipment used in field hockey, ok first of all the hockey ball is nothing like a cricket ball except for it's a round, it's much harder, heavier, their are two main types of hockey balls one with "dimples" and one with out, then one with dimples is mad for grass as it helps you to have more control and it rolls better on grass the one with out, the one with out is used on synthetic turf as the synthetic turf is smooth, thus the ball glides faster and smoother with out dimples.

Now onto the gloves, their are different types of gloves in hockey, these usually help reduce shock, protect the fingers, and you can get pacific ones for cold weather as in cold weather it hurts when you hit.

These gloves have padding on them similar to cricket gloves but are lighter, usually only cover 3 fingers but can cover all of them, and some of gloves don’t have fabric over the finger tip

Oh and as for then putting on the penalty, I'm not sure, but i have known player that do put them on for penalty  strokes, as luck charms, and better grip and such (a penalty stroke is when the ball is placed on a dot in the D and the player must try and flick it into the goals
