Lokomotiv Moscow midfielder, Denis Glushakov, has urged his team-mates to work harder in order to improve the Russian Premier League club’s current standings on the league table.
And while some senior football analysts blamed new head coach, Slaven Bilic, behind the Railroaders dismal run in the ongoing campaign, Glushakov believes that it will be a matter of time before they regain a foothold among the
top Russian outfits.
As things stand, the Moscow-based club are at the 8th spot on the league table with 31 points. However, they are just a point behind the 4th spot currently occupied by Kuban Krasnodar.
“This year was more ambiguous for me. The biggest disappointment was the disastrous performance of the national team at the European Championships. But in autumn, we managed to win four games in the qualifying round of the World
Cup.”
“I know we missed a lot of points this season but there are plenty of games left to alter the situation. I am very happy that I have continued playing without injury. We will continue in our quest to participate in European competition. We
have to make the right conclusions from the mistakes," the former FC Nika Moscow man was quoted as saying.
The 25-year-old is linked with a move to Zenit St. Petersburg and Spartak Moscow this winter and it has been earlier reported that the Railroaders are ready to let go the Russian International for 15 million Euros.
The prolific midfielder has made 18 league starts this season, scoring one goal and making three assists. Glushakov came to the lime light only last season after becoming Loko’s top scorer following an impressive 15 goals in 50
appearances in all competition.
Though Olga Smorodskaya poured water on the stories linking Glushakov with the St. Petersburg club and Spartak earlier this week, reports in Russian media suggest that they will part company with the player should they receive
an appropriate offer for the player.
